Book Description
"The Wonderful Dharma Lotus Sutra is one of the major Buddhist texts of East Asia. It was spoken in the last period of Śakyamuni Buddha's life, proclaiming the ultimate principles of the Dharma, which unites all previous teachings into one. With many parables - e.g. that of the burning house, the lost son, and the rain - the Buddha teaches that all beings can become fully enlightened Buddhas and that this achievement has always been the ultimate intent of his teaching. All the chapters include extensive commentary by the Tripitaka Master Hsuan Hua, whose lively and highly accessible explanations show this ancient text's meaning as instructions for practice of the spiritual path even in the modern world. This set of fifteen volumes is a new English translation based on the first translation published by the Buddhist Text Translation Society between 1977 and 1998. The review and editorial work was coordinated by the International Institute for the Translation of Buddhist Texts at Dharma Realm Buddhist University. The set consists of an initial volume titled the Prologue, thirteen volumes containing the twenty-eight chapters of the sutra with commentary, and a final volume featuring the text of the entire sutra"--

Book Description
The Lotus Sutra is regarded as one of the world's great religious scriptures and most influential texts. It's a seminal work in the development of Buddhism throughout East Asia and, by extension, in the development of Mahayana Buddhism throughout the world. Taking place in a vast and fantastical cosmic setting, the Lotus Sutra places emphasis on skillfully doing whatever is needed to serve and compassionately care for others, on breaking down distinctions between the fully enlightened buddha and the bodhisattva who vows to postpone salvation until all beings may share it, and especially on each and every being's innate capacity to become a buddha. Gene Reeves's new translation appeals to readers with little or no familiarity with technical Buddhist vocabulary, as well as long-time practitioners and students. In addition, this remarkable volume includes the full "threefold" text of this classic.

Book Description
The Tian Tai tradition distinguishes this chapter as the beginning of the second half of the Sutra. Included is a discussion of the conduct of a Bodhisattva as it relates to the Vinaya and the Four Dharmas that Bodhisattvas should follow and happily maintain. Happily-dwelling conduct is the Bodhisattva conduct, and the Bodhisattva conduct is itself the happily-dwelling conduct. Happily dwelling in the doors of practice cultivated by Bodhisattvas, we can reside physically and mentally in the states of cultivation of the Bodhisattva Way, and do so happily, since that is what we to do.
