Book Description
The gospel of Mark purposefully employs characters with specific and nuanced representations of dis/ability to portray the unique authority, the engaging message, and the mission of the Markan Jesus. Based on hermeneutical insights from Dis/ability Studies, this monograph is a contribution to the research of culturally and historically normalized corporeality in the biblical scriptures. At the core of the investigation are the healing narratives: passages that explicitly deal with a transformation from a described deviant bodily state to a positively valued corporeality. Lena Nogossek-Raithel not only analyzes the terminological and historical descriptions of these physical phenomena but also investigates their narrative function for the gospel text. The author argues that the images of dis/ability employed are far from accidental. Rather, they significantly influence the narrative’s structure and impact, embody its theological claims, and characterize its protagonist Jesus. With this thorough exegetical analysis, Nogossek-Raithel offers a firm historical foundation for anyone interested in the critical interpretation and theological application of the Markan healing narratives.

Book Description
The book will provide a detailed evidence-based approach to key issues in the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and management of patients with concurrent medical issues. It will provide a clinical focus with practical advice on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of heart disease supported by an expert’s summary, without duplicating other texts. Each chapter will be structured similarly in the following sections: (1) Introduction, (2) Pathophysiology, (3) Diagnosis (4) Management (5) Key Points, (6) Summary of the key guidelines from professional societies where available. The recommendations will have a firm background in the AHA/ACC or ESC recommendations for the management of patients. The intention is to create a comprehensive book rather than a pocketbook or manual. We hope this book will serve as an up to date reference for the practicing clinician. Each of the approximately 40 chapters will have at most 5000 words and 5 -7 high quality figures or illustrations each. Only the highest quality authors will be recruited from the United States and Europe. The emphasis will be on depth of information yet ease of access. This necessitates an approach whereby not a single word, sentence or page of the book will be wasted. Brief where it needs to be brief, detailed where detail is required, this will be a true all-encompassing clinician reference.

Book Description
In New Testament scholarship, the study of space has been underrepresented in comparison with the study of time. While Jesus' life and ministry have been intensively explored in terms of eschatology--i.e., with time significance--space has tended to be treated as simply a given room or inactive backdrop where events took place. Interest in the space where Jesus ministered has, however, gradually increased, and space has received greater attention from sociological and literary perspectives. In particular, spatial investigations into the social circumstances of Galilee, the place of origin of Jesus' missional movement, have begun to attract serious scholarly attention. The important functions of space in literature are also becoming better recognized: spatial settings serve not only to generate atmosphere but also to disclose the purposes and themes of narratives. This book explores Jesus' Galilean ministry in Mark 4:35--8:21 through the use of spatial analysis, dividing space into three categories: social, geographical, and allusive. The study of each space discovers social, literary, and theological implications of Jesus' missional movement in Galilee.
