The deep and enduring friendship between Vincent and Theo Van Gogh shaped both brothers' lives. Confidant, champion, sympathizer, friend—Theo supported Vincent as he struggled to find his path in life. They shared everything, swapping stories of lovers and friends, successes and disappointments, dreams and ambitions. Meticulously researched, drawing on the 658 letters Vincent wrote to Theo during his lifetime, Deborah Heiligman weaves a tale of two lives intertwined and the extraordinary love of the Van Gogh brothers.

Book Description
This collection contains an account book kept by members of the Vincent family in Fairhaven, Mass., from 1838 to 1857. They recorded the expenses and sales of the family farm and the people who worked there, including millers and sawyers. Wood was one of the main products sold by the farm, especially white pine. The workers employed by the family include William Pripp, Joseph Pittey, Seth Sherman, and workers hauled wood to and from other towns and swamps, mowed grass, gathered hay, among other tasks. Their wages were also recorded, with four days of work paying $2.57 in 1851.
