Book Description
Excerpt from The Three Dispensations of the Bible In the Bible there are three great divisions, each repro senting what is called a dispensation - the Patriarchah J ew ish, and Christian. God has never had to change, as some suppose, in order to have these different dispensations They, think because Paul said in Hebrews x1-ii., Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and forever, that if God gave. His people a law, and later changed that by giving another, that God has changed. They have the wrong con ception of God 1 They should think of God at the time or before man was made, here God, knowing how man would disobey Him, has in His own mind a scheme of redemption which would take man through three schools of training be fore man is as good as before the transgression. No-, w these schools being arranged already, just as soon as man sins [god puts him in the lower school, and when he has been cultured to the limit of this school, God does not have to change to put him into a higher school, for that had always been His purpose, and when he finishes his training in the Second school God does not have to change to put himhim to the university. This is the Way that God hath dealt with the human family, and when we speak of God taking man out of one school and placing him into a higher, not think that God has changed, but is only accomplishing the one purpose which Hethad in the begmning. The first school or dispensation lasted about twenty-five hundred years - from Adam to the giving of the law on Mount Sfanai (ex, 20th chapter.) During this dispensation books were scarce; in fact, the commandments of the Lord were not written at this time; We have no evidence that any part Of the Bible was written before Moses, which was about twenty-five hundred years after the beginning. So, remem ber, that while we live through this. Dispensation we _have no Bible, and all the commandments we have are oral. We know not just how many commandments God gave to those people, but we will give here all the commandments that were put in the Bible when it was written. We know not how Moses came to know what they were, but God made them known to him in a waybest suited to Himself. Book Description
Excerpt from The Dispensations Prophetically and Doctrinally Considered: Being a Course of Lectures Delivered at Montreal Why is it that we are commanded to baptise a believer in Christ Jesus, in the name (not names) of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost the Elohim, the Three Persons in Jehovah? God hath revealed it, and, therefore, it is true, is an argument which human wit cannot repel, and which it will be found the height of human imprudence to oppose. If God hath not revealed it, then it falls to the ground of itself; but then also fall, with it, the whole Gospel of God and the whole salvation of man. Book Description
Excerpt from From a Cloud of Witnesses: Three Hundred and Nine Tributes to the Bible This is the richest compilation of its kind that has yet appeared. It outnumbers by some two hundred quotations the largest collection now in print. It is unique in plan. Its value is enhanced by an introduction appendix, and quadruple cross index. It shows at a glance how many brilliant thinkers have reflected upon the Bible, and the substance of their thoughts in pithy sentences. The chronological notations of year of birth and death indicate the era to which each belongs. The indexes by nationality and profession serve to locate authorities still more perfectly. The topical index is in itself very suggestive. A metropolitan newspaper recently affirmed editorially that good books concerning the Bible are increasingly in demand. It is believed that this uncommon volume will find a welcome and serve a purpose. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. The Reverend Clarence Larkin was one of the most widely influential pop theologians of the early twentieth century: his works are the source of many of the "prophecies" and "truths" end-times Christians hold to even today. This stupendous 1918 book-perhaps his greatest work-is the result of more than 30 years' worth of, the author informs us, "careful and patient study of the Prophetic Scriptures."Fully illustrated by charts describing God's plan for humanity, Dispensational Truth covers: Pre-Millennialism the Second Coming of Christ the present evil world the Satanic trinity the world's seven great crises prophetical chronology the threefold nature of man the Book of Revelation five fingers pointing to Christ the False Prophet and much more.American Baptist pastor and author CLARENCE LARKIN (1850-1924) was born in Pennsylvania, and later set up his ministry there. He wrote extensively and popularly on a wide range of Biblical and theological matters.
