Book Description
The storm of Doubt," powerful words that resonated in my soul from the moment I first heard them from Dante Gebel. As he continued to touch on the subject, I began to reflect in a special way like never before and to understand many things about my life. From that point on, every message I hear from him feels as if he is speaking exclusively to me, and that's when the idea of writing a book on this theme was born in my heart. Then, one day, in the solitude of my study, I wondered how or where to begin writing. I truly felt the Lord prompting me to put into words what I inexplicably felt compelled to do—a work different from the others I have published. I realized that life is not just about boarding a ship and drifting aimlessly across the seven seas. There is more to it, like understanding where to navigate, where we currently are, and where we are headed. After listening to Dante and the way he conveyed what the Lord wanted me to pursue, I was filled with inspiration to make this book something truly special, in the hands of God. For some time now, I have been going through a similar juncture. After working for twenty years in the same company, fifteen of which as a supervisor, I believe I have reached the peak of my professional level. I am aware that the comfort I have enjoyed for many years prevented me from thinking about my retirement and what comes next. What will I do? Of course, something I love doing and that I am passionate enough about to do for the rest of my days. I started taking leadership workshops and exploring various personal development topics. However, it wasn't until 2018, when someone told me about John Maxwell's platform and team, that I felt it was truly meant for me. From the very beginning, I was excited because I had been reading John's books for years. Just the idea of being close to him ignited a strong flame within me, illuminating me with intensity. Unbeknownst to me, another flame was ignited in the company due to casual circumstances of life, causing my workload to simultaneously decrease. I used to believe I had no time for anything, as my workload and responsibilities were extremely high. But to my surprise, that "time" started to appear constantly, seemingly out of nowhere. For example, when I had meetings and classes scheduled at the same time, the meetings would get canceled, witnessing how the magic of manifestation unfolded. This way, I always had the space for my new goal. Sundays suddenly became free for me, and that's when I started going to River Arena. It was something I never planned; it was God's doing, who arranges everything and placed me where He wanted me to be. He sent me signs and people I needed to meet, or simply through dreams, He showed me the path. Since we often take everything for granted and fail to see what He truly wants us to do, I invite you today to let ourselves be guided by His signs on the specific path we have toward our purpose in life. After years of sailing through stormy waters, losing my way time and time again, being in what I called danger, uncertainty, and failure, experiencing shipwrecks and disasters, I am now making turns that are very important because it is Jesus who captains the ship of my life. Yes, I have been shipwrecked! But here and now, I am certain that I will reach the ports I must reach according to the Creator's desires and divine timing, to fulfill the service missions I have chosen with love and in the company of those who have also been chosen. I recall God's word in Acts 27:44, which I invite you to read and contemplate, as it reinforces my historic moment and inspired the painting turned into a frame and illustration on the cover of the book you now hold in your hands, just as you hold your own life.

Crossing the Waters
Author: Leslie Leyland Fields
Publisher: NavPress
ISBN: 1631466038
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 257
Book Description
2017 Christianity Today Book Award winner (“Christian Living / Discipleship” category) Get ready for the wettest, stormiest, wildest trip through the Gospel you’ve ever taken! The gospels are dramatic, wild, and wet—set in a rich maritime culture on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. Jesus’ first disciples were ragtag fishermen, and Jesus’ messages and miracles teem with water, fish, fishermen, net-breaking catches, sea crossings, boat-sinking storms, and even a walk on water. Because this world is foreign and distant to us, we’ve missed much about the disciples’ experiences and about following Jesus—until now. Leslie Leyland Fields—a well-known writer, respected biblical exegete, and longtime Alaskan fisherwoman—crosses the waters of time and culture to take us out on the Sea of Galilee, through a rugged season of commercial fishing with her family in Alaska, and through the waters of the New Testament. You’ll be swept up in a fresh experience of the gospels, traveling with the fishermen disciples from Jesus’ baptism to the final miraculous catch of fish—and also experiencing Leslie’s own efforts to follow Christ out on her own Alaskan sea. In a time when so many are “unfollowing” Jesus and leaving the Church, Crossing the Waters delivers a fresh encounter with Jesus and explores what it means to “come, follow me.”

Merchants of Doubt
Author: Naomi Oreskes
Publisher: A&C Black
ISBN: 1408828774
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 368
Book Description
The U.S. scientific community has long led the world in research on such areas as public health, environmental science, and issues affecting quality of life. These scientists have produced landmark studies on the dangers of DDT, tobacco smoke, acid rain, and global warming. But at the same time, a small yet potent subset of this community leads the world in vehement denial of these dangers. Merchants of Doubt tells the story of how a loose-knit group of high-level scientists and scientific advisers, with deep connections in politics and industry, ran effective campaigns to mislead the public and deny well-established scientific knowledge over four decades. Remarkably, the same individuals surface repeatedly-some of the same figures who have claimed that the science of global warming is "not settled" denied the truth of studies linking smoking to lung cancer, coal smoke to acid rain, and CFCs to the ozone hole. "Doubt is our product," wrote one tobacco executive. These "experts" supplied it. Naomi Oreskes and Erik M. Conway, historians of science, roll back the rug on this dark corner of the American scientific community, showing how ideology and corporate interests, aided by a too-compliant media, have skewed public understanding of some of the most pressing issues of our era.
