The Green Gold
Author: Silver Haze
Publisher: Jz Media
ISBN: 9789081973014
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 124
Book Description
"The Green Gold, the world of weed growing." "Made visible what has always been imperceptible" Songs have been sung, books have been written, much has been published about weed, but always from the point of view of bystanders on the sideline. No book has been published before, which made the doings and dealings visible of all that had mostly remained imperceptible, in such a low-threshold manner. Behind the scenes, written in a light-hearted, candid and simple, up front style. Anything but a literary tour de force, but straight from the heart. It is assumed that everyone involved in the growth belongs to the major crime category, but nothing is further from the truth. The recently published book "The Green Gold" from the author under the pen name Mr. Silver Haze, (referring to an expensive type of weed), will introduce the reader in a candid way to what really transpires behind the curtains. The author is the main character who used high-profile, tasteful anecdotes and stories, which Silver Haze believes to be based on nothing but the truth. He paints a colorful image of what really goes on backstage from the green gold. By reading this book every single soul will understand what's going on. A must-read! I would like to invite you to take a look at our website www.thegreengold.nl where you will find a promotional teaser we made for the book! This book will make it clear that weed is not the problem in the Netherlands but rather the policy of tolerance.

Burmese Silver from the Colonial Period
Author: Alexandra Green
Publisher: Ad Ilissum
ISBN: 9781912168279
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 256
Book Description
This stunning catalogue presents an exceptional collection of rare Burmese silver. Accompanied by detailed photographs and explanatory texts, this ground-breaking book proposes a new way of looking at Burmese silver. Names, dates, places, and stories - identifying the who, when, where, and what of Burmese silver has been the focus of publications on the topic. Are these questions the best way to understand silver, however? Alexandra Green argues that they are not. Too few pieces provide reliable information about silversmiths, production locations, and dates to allow for a comprehensive understanding of the subject. Instead, a close examination of silver patterns reveals strong links with Burmese art history reaching as far back as the Bagan period (11th to 13th centuries), connections with contemporary artistic trends, and participation within the wider world of silversmithing. The first European to write about Burmese silver was H L Tilly, a colonial official from the late 19th into the early 20th century. Tasked with collecting objects for various fairs and exhibitions, he took an interest in Burmese art, publishing articles and books from the 1880s onwards. While much of what he wrote was factually inaccurate and coloured by the prejudices and stereotypes common at the time, his two volumes on Burmese silver published in 1902 and 1904 contain pictures of pieces from the early to mid 19th century. These enable a reconstruction of how silver designs evolved as the country was absorbed into the Indian Raj, and British and other Westerners became consumers of local silver products. Tilly was also correct in his interest in silver designs. Green uses the visual information from his books to describe the continuities and innovations of designs found on silver from the mid 19th through the mid 20th century, and she places these trends within local, regional, and global flows of ideas. Many studies of Burmese silver have been plagued by a lack of understanding of the Burmese context. In contrast, Green examines silver from a local perspective, drawing on Burmese texts and information that allows for a nuanced view of the motifs, designs, and patterns that appear repetitively on silver pieces. Using Graham Honeybill's collection, formed over many years, as a basis, she explores how designs and patterns circulated around the country and were innovatively combined and recombined on pieces by silversmiths producing objects for Burmese, Western, and commercial clients.

Green Synthesis of Silver Nanomaterials
Author: Kamel A. Abd-Elsalam
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0128245093
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 798
Book Description
Green Synthesis of Silver Nanomaterials illustrates how to biologically scale up silver nanoparticle synthesis. This book covers green synthesis of silver nanomaterials, via plants, agricultural waste, fungi, and microorganisms. Sections cover the synthesis and characterization of chemical and green synthesis, various types of silver nanomaterialism, the ability of different fungal species, such as filamentous fungi, to produce silver nanoparticles, the microbial synthesis of silver NMs, biosynthesis mechanisms, toxicity, fate and commercialization. As examples, greener pathways and mechanisms, toxicity of silver nanoparticles in aquatic life and in natural eco-systems, and strategies for the scaling up of green-synthesized nanomaterials are discussed. With the extended work in enhancing nanomaterials synthesis performance, and discovering their biomedical, environmental, and agricultural applications, it is hoped that the execution of these methods on a large scale and their industrial applications in different fields will take place in the near future. - Assesses the impact of a large variety of silver-based nanostructures in the biomedical, environmental and agri-food sectors - Discusses the major synthesis methods used for effectively processing plant-based silver nanoparticles - Outlines the potential and major challenges for adopting green synthesis methods on a mass scale

Green Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles using Stingless bee (Trigona iridipennis Smith) honey and evaluation of their antibacterial activity
Author: Prem Jose Vazhacharickal
Publisher: Prem Jose
ISBN: 1795734906
Category : Reference
Languages : en
Pages : 37
Book Description
Nanotechnology is an emerging field of science. It has increased applications in diverse area for the development of new materials at nanoscale levels. Synthesis of nanoparticles using biological methods is referred as greener synthesis of nanoparticles. Green synthesis provides advancement over chemical and physical method as it is cost effective, environment friendly, and safe for human therapeutic use. Stingless bees are highly social (eusocial) insects which populated the tropical earth 65 million years ago longer than honey bees. Among the most common uses of stingless bee honey are to treat stomach disturbance, cough, tonsillitis, sore throat, stomach and intestinal ulcers, cold, disease of the mouth, mucus membrane, and as a wound dressing due to its antimicrobial activity. Stingless bees honey were used to for the green synthesis of silver nanoparticles. Antimicrobial activity of the green synthesised nanoparticles were tested used agar diffusion method against Escherichia coli (E. coli), Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhi and Klebsiella pneumoniae. The results showed that stingless bee honey could be effectively used for the synthesis of silver nanoparticle. The synthesized silver nanoparticles shows antibacterial activity on both Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria. This biosynthesis of nanoparticles is cost efficient, pollutant free and simpler to synthesize.
