Book Description
Since the publication of E.P. Sanders' Paul and Palestinian Judaism in 1977, Paul's soteriology has received extensive evaluation in light of second temple Judaism. These works have focused on exegesis of the Pauline text and evaluating Sanders' proposal of covenantal nomism within the second temple Jewish literature. There has been an unfortunate gap in this discussion: historical theology. This work addresses the historical claims made by proponents of the New Perspective on Paul regarding Luther's theology and the early church. In The Righteousness of One, Jordan Cooper demonstrates that the portrait of Luther given by many of the New Perspective writers is a caricature, read through the lens of both Protestant scholasticism and twentieth-century existentialist theology. Luther's views are more nuanced and balanced than many Pauline interpreters are willing to admit. In light of this reevaluation of Luther's own theology, early Patristic writings are evaluated in terms of similarity and disparity between Patristic Pauline interpretation and Lutheran Pauline interpretation, and thus it becomes apparent that there is continuity between the patristic tradition and Luther's reading of the Pauline text. Rather than being driven purely by medieval debates about merit, Luther's reading of Paul is both exegetically sensitive and consistent with the broader catholic tradition.

Book Description
This is a Bible Study that incorporates the "SOAPing" Bible Study Methods. The book of Romans is one of my favorite books in the Bible because the doctrines taught through this book have provided me with so much encouragement. I have used the "Roman Road" many times when sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with other people. In fact, the "Roman Road" was presented to me when I gave me heart and life to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I am thankful for every word provided through the Bible and it is difficult to choose one book as my favorite, but it is not difficult to say that the book of Romans is on my short list of favorites. Romans is the Christians book of clear DOCTRINE! The primary theme is "The Righteousness of God in Christ." The book of Romans can be divided into three sections that will guide us throughout this exciting Bible Study. The first section of Romans teaches us about people's need of God's righteousness. The second section reveals WHO God's provision for righteousness is, Jesus Christ. The last section of Romans provides us with encouragement for living in the power of the Holy Spirit who enables us to demonstrate God's righteousness in our lives!

The Righteousness of God
Author: Charles Lee Irons
Publisher: Mohr Siebeck

Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 488
Book Description
Advocates of the New Perspective on Paul appeal to the view that "righteousness" in biblical theology is a Verhaltnisbegriff (relational concept). This is the view that "righteousness" does not mean conformity to a norm, nor is it an essentially legal concept; rather, "righteousness" denotes the fulfillment of the demands of a relationship, since the relationship itself is the norm. This relational interpretation of "righteousness" was first put forward by Hermann Cremer in 1899 and exercised a profound influence in biblical scholarship throughout the 20th century. It lies at the root of the New Perspective claim that "the righteousness of God" in Paul is a cipher for God's saving faithfulness to his covenant, a view defended by N. T. Wright, among others. Charles Lee Irons provides a critical examination of Cremer's chief arguments for the relational, covenant-faithfulness interpretation. The author argues instead for the view that "the righteousness of God" in Rom 1:17; 3: 21-22; 10:3; 2 Cor 5:21; and Phil 3:9 is the status of righteousness that comes from God as a gift.

Book Description
A. Katherine Grieb insightfully traces the argument of Paul's letter to the Romans and shows how it is grounded in the story of God's faithfulness to Israel. Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 74
Book Description
"Righteousness Exalts A Nation" is a call to battle against the forces of evil that threaten to destroy America's Christian heritage. Through this book, you will be challenged to fight this war by first equipping yourself with the armor and weapon of KNOWING God's love for you. This is the key to victory in your own personal life as well as America's Christian future. Chapter nine will challenge you to understand 2 Chronicles 7:14 from God's viewpoint. This is critical revelation for our nation to experience the healing of our land. America's destiny, as a nation, needs you to KNOW God's great love for you, please don't disappoint her. READ THE VISION IN THIS BOOK AND RUN WITH IT! (Habakkuk 2:2) David Vesely is first an American Patriot, who loves God and loves his country. He is also a minister/teacher of the gospel. David is director of Taking America Back-2014 an organization founded to restore God's righteousness in the major institutions of American public life. Other areas of ministry he has been involved in include: church planting; prison ministry; Christian school teaching and administration; pastoral armorbearer; and ministry of helps director. He is also a 2nd year graduate of Supernatural Ministries Training Institute (SMTI), a school specializing in ministry of helps and ministerial practicalities. There is a zeal and excitement within David to see America turn back to God. He is also equally passionate about the Church-the body of Christ "walking in" ALL the blessings of inheritance Jesus died for. A major key in turning America back to God is found in the church receiving and operating in their spiritual inheritance. One of David's favorite sayings is, "IF JESUS DIED TO GIVE IT TO ME, I WANT IT!" Can you say the same?

Substance
Author: Nicola Gibson
Publisher:
ISBN: 9781973799870
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 310
Book Description
The world has become more worldly. Worldliness isn't just, as sin, an offense against God; it changes us into its image. Through this transformation we become shallow, vaporous, and brittle. It leads predictably to misery. Worldliness, in short, is creating a crisis of substance.Meanwhile, in the gospel, Jesus both gives and demands spiritual substance. Substance is all a gift, but it is received through a sweaty process; one the Bible calls 'discipleship'. Jesus has come both to count us righteous and then make us godly (Titus 2-3)-both through real faith. Godliness makes us deep, courageous, flexible, and resilient. It causes us to thrive and makes us a blessing to the world. Discipleship creates an abundance of substance. It is the gospel cure to the deception and enslavement of worldliness. This book is about becoming disciples of substance in an increasingly worldly world. It is about experiencing the joys found only in the deep waters of discipleship. It is about finding the supernatural strength you have been given in Christ to stand like a mountain in the rains of worldliness.
