Sex and the Supremacy of Christ
Author: John Piper
Publisher: Crossway
ISBN: 1433517906

Languages : en
Pages : 290
Book Description
The Bible has a way of shocking us. If Americans could still blush, we might blush at the words, "Rejoice in the wife of your youth, a lovely deer, a graceful doe. Let her breasts fill you at all times with delight; be intoxicated always in her love" (Proverbs 5:18-19). But, of course, sin always tries to trash God's gifts. So we can't just celebrate sex for what God made it to be; we have to fight what sin turned it into. The contributors to this unique volume encourage you to do both: celebrate and struggle. This book has something for all-men and women, married and single-from contributors like John Piper, C. J. and Carolyn Mahaney, Mark Dever, Al Mohler, Carolyn McCulley, and others.

The Rapture Part II
Author: Jopie Rattu
Publisher: Elm Hill
ISBN: 1400330408
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 126
Book Description
This second part of the book explains about the signs of heaven that are related to the second coming of the Lord Jesus. His first coming is marked by a sign in the sky in the form of a star in the east as explained in Matthew 2:2: Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. God also gave signs in the sky relating to His second coming: The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: (Acts 2:20) From 2014-2019 there were sixteen sky signs referred to the verse, in the form of nine solar eclipses and seven total lunar eclipses (moons like blood), thirteen of which occur right on the feast days of the people of Israel and three on the days that we interpret related to end-time events, that are on the day would be the beginning of great tribulation, on the day of the cessation of daily sacrifices, and the last day of great tribulation in Jerusalem. Furthermore, the eclipses of years 2018 have the same interval of days with the ones in 2015, especially when reckoned from the calendar year beginning on the 1st day of Nissan and the other calendar year beginning on the 15th day of Shevat. The Bible records that the end times will occur when conditions are safe and peaceful, but they will suddenly turn into chaos accompanied by severe persecution. ”For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.” (1 Thessalonans 5:3) In medical science, the normal gestation period lasts 266 days, and the Lord gave a lot of signs similar to pregnancy (266). In addition, the book also explains the Israelite festivals and their meanings and prophecies. The Israelites have seven main feasts which are divided into two, namely the festivals of Rainy Season and the festival of Summer. The three festivals of the Rainy Season were fulfilled at the time of the first coming of the Lord Jesus. The four summer festivals in the form of the feast of the Trumpet, the day of Atonement, the feast of Tabernacles and the day of Hanukkah have not yet been fulfilled. Many theologians believe that the holidays will be fulfilled in connection with the second coming of the Lord Jesus. Surprisingly, when we interpreted end-time events based on data of solar eclipses and total lunar eclipses , Israel's feasts and Bible verses, it turns out that our interpretation of the end-time events occurred precisely in the days the Summer feast and in accordance with the prophecies of these feast days, so that if this really happens then the second coming of the Lord Jesus will be the fulfillment of the Israel's Summer festivals!

Seeing and Savoring Jesus Christ (Revised Edition)

Languages : en
Pages : 130
Book Description
Who is Jesus Christ? You've never met him in person, and you don't know anyone who has. But there is a way to know who he is. How? Jesus Christ-the divine Person revealed in the Bible-has a unique excellence and a spiritual beauty that speaks directly to our souls and says, "Yes, this is truth." It's like seeing the sun and knowing that it is light, or tasting honey and knowing that it is sweet. The depth and complexity of Jesus shatter our simple mental frameworks. He baffled proud scribes with his wisdom but was understood and loved by children. He calmed a raging storm with a word but would not get himself down from the cross. Look at the Jesus of the Bible. Keep your eyes open, and fill them with the portrait of Jesus in God's Word. Jesus said, "If anyone's will is to do God's will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority." Ask God for the grace to do his will, and you will see the truth of his Son. John Piper has written this book in the hope that all will see Jesus for who he really is and will come to enjoy him above all else.

Just Do Something
Author: Kevin L. DeYoung
Publisher: Moody Publishers
ISBN: 1575673290
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 129
Book Description
Hyper-spiritual approaches to finding God's will don't work. It's time to try something new: Give up. Pastor and author Kevin DeYoung counsels Christians to settle down, make choices, and do the hard work of seeing those choices through. Too often, he writes, God's people tinker around with churches, jobs, and relationships, worrying that they haven't found God's perfect will for their lives. Or-even worse-they do absolutely nothing, stuck in a frustrated state of paralyzed indecision, waiting...waiting...waiting for clear, direct, unmistakable direction. But God doesn't need to tell us what to do at each fork in the road. He's already revealed his plan for our lives: to love him with our whole hearts, to obey His Word, and after that, to do what we like. No need for hocus-pocus. No reason to be directionally challenged. Just do something.

Following Jesus, the Servant King
Author: Jonathan Lunde
Publisher: Zondervan Academic
ISBN: 0310322685
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 322
Book Description
"This book presents a biblical theology of discipleship that gives the “big picture” of God’s relationship with humanity. It surveys God’s interaction with humankind from Eden, through the sequence of the biblical covenants, and on into the fulfillment that comes in Jesus. Throughout, the twin themes emerge—one of God’s demand of righteousness and another of his prior, enabling grace. Discipleship to Jesus stands in relation to its Old Testament precedents, preserving continuity in the grace/demand interplay. Jesus’ ministry to Israel is the fulfillment of the interactions between God and his people, assuming the roles of righteous King and gracious Servant. Faithful discipleship to Jesus the King, therefore, must always involve responding to his bracing call for righteousness, but doing so in the ongoing experience of the Servant’s prior, enabling grace. This book provides an understanding of Jesus that will facilitate ongoing experiences of transforming grace, which in turn will enable faithful discipleship. As such, it presents a view of Christian discipleship that is grounded in an informed Christology of Jesus, the Servant King."

Revelation Exegetical Commentary - 2 volume set
Author: Robert L. Thomas
Publisher: Moody Publishers
ISBN: 0802495451
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 1189
Book Description
Get back to the roots on Revelation Through the centuries since its writing, the book of Revelation has captured the fascination of the Christian church. The earliest Christians were unanimous in understanding it along a premillennial view of Jesus' second coming, but other hermeneutical approaches began to emerge in the third century. These clouded, and added complexity to, the task of explaining the book’s meaning. For most of the Christian era, consequently, many readers have viewed this last of the NT writings as though it were hopelessly embedded in an aura of deep mystery. An avalanche of interpretive literature has evidenced remarkable interest in the book’s contents, but along with the interest has come widespread bewilderment. Written especially for the informed layman, student, and scholar, this commentary seeks to clear the air. The book is interpreted according to a historical and grammatical hermeneutic and propounds a conservative, evangelical theology, but the reader will not get a narrow view on areas of disagreement. This commentary interacts with a range of major views, both evangelical and nonevangelical. It reaffirms the basic framework of eschatology espoused by ancient Christianity, but with added help from centuries of maturing thought and doctrinal progress in the Body of Christ. All exegesis and exposition in this 2-volume commentary are based on the original language of the text. Translations used are those of the author, and textual criticism and word study are included where appropriate. This in-depth commentary also includes extended excursuses on important topics of theological and historical interest.

Love Me Anyway
Author: Jared C. Wilson
Publisher: Baker Books
ISBN: 1493432907
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 256
Book Description
There may be no more powerful desire in the human heart than to be loved. And not just loved, but loved anyway. In spite of what we've done or left undone, in spite of the ways we have failed or floundered. We long for an unconditional, lavish love that we know intrinsically we don't deserve. If you are tired, sad, yet always longing, bestselling author Jared C. Wilson has incredible news for you: that kind of love actually exists, and it is actually something you can experience--whether or not you're in a romantic relationship. In his signature reflective, conversational, and often humorous style, Wilson unpacks 1 Corinthians 13 to show us what real love looks like. Through engaging stories and touching anecdotes, he paints a picture of an extravagant God who not only puts the desire for love into our very souls but fulfills those desires in striking, life-changing ways.
