Mary transferred to hampden-sydney. The letter dated December 14, 1789, and addressed to William Short, shows to what lengths the early trustees went in order to insure the stability of the youthful institution! Our current efforts to procure funds are strenuous, but we assure our good friends in Williamsburg that we no longer have designs on them.
