Excerpt from Re-Discovery of the Old Testament For Biblical quotations I have kept largely to familiar words, though I have frequently modified the translation to some extent for reasons which are not stated, since they would distract the general reader. In no case has a change been introduced for a priori or dogmatic reasons, but only where philological or textual support could be provided to justify the change.
