Book Description
At my birth in Norfolk, Virginia September 24, 1938 my mother June prayed I would become a teacher or minister. Now at 72 years of age - after 45 years as a pastor, teacher and missionary - I can thank her for her prayers for they were fulfilled beyond her most hopeful dreams. I look back on 60 years of Biblical studies beginning when I first completed reading the King James Bible at the age of 12. I have been in love with the Scriptures – and reading/writing in general – and always wanted to publish a new edition of the New Testament.

Book Description
The Nazarene Gospel Restored is Robert Graves's major work on the life of Jesus, written in collaboration with the distinguished Hebrew scholar Joshua Podro. The research and writing occupied them for over ten years, in a working relationship compounded, in John W. Presley's phrase, 'of argument, scholarship and mutual respect', in which the imaginative writer and the Hebraist drew on their vast knowledge of the ancient world to reveal an extraordinary new, 'true' story of Jesus. The result is, as Graves wrote to T.S. Eliot, 'a very long, very readable, very strange book', and one that Presley argues is as central to Graves's thought as The White Goddess. The Nazarene Gospel Restored was controversial when first published: the Church Times refused to advertise it, reviews were hostile, and Graves twice sued for libel. In the twenty-first century it is possible to read it in the context of a continuing engagement with the historical Jesus, both scholarly and popular. In this new edition, John W. Presley gives a detailed account of the composition and reception of the book, setting it in the context of Graves's writing and of biblical scholarship. The inclusion of Graves's Foreword and annotations for a project revised edition make this an indispensable resource.

Book Description
The Second Temple Era gave rise to three significant sects of Judaism: the Pharisees, Sadducees, and Essenes. The Essenes have lately become the object of much interest and attention due to the discovery in 1947 of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Most scholars attribute these scrolls to the Essene community of Qumran along the shores of the Dead Sea. According to the ancient and more recently discovered sources, there was a "branch" group of the Essenes which shared Essene theology but differed in their beliefs and practices in the area of marriage and family. In Matthew 2:23, the inspired Scriptures associate Yeshua (Jesus) with this branch group called the Nazarenes. This book will be an examination of the four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, harmonized chronologically. I believe this study will demonstrate that Yeshua (Jesus) faithfully believed and practiced Biblical theology and lifestyle according to the Nazarene paradigm. Although Yeshua was clearly associated with this Nazarene religious sect, he was not subject to nor did he submit to its human authority. Yeshua, we will learn, was the Son of God (Cf. John 1:1-14) and bowed only to the authority of his Father in Heaven and the inspiration of the indwelling Holy Spirit. The author has found that the four Gospels harmonize nicely in a chronological paradigm and that an overview of the order of events helps to illuminate significant turning points in the story of the life and ministry of Yeshua. In cases where it is difficult to determine where along the timeline a certain incident occurred, he tends to look at Luke's Gospel as the one of the four that intentionally approached the narrative of Yeshua from a chronological perspective (Cf. Luke 1:3).The study of the background to each Gospel record, usually available to students of the Bible in books classified as Old Testament or New Testament "Introductions," is a beneficial and enlightening endeavor. Discovering the background of the author, intended audience, and time of writing, etc., sheds valuable light on the text itself. However, such studies do not fall within the purview of this book. Here we will accept that Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John were the actual authors who were inspired by God (Cf. 2 Peter 1:21, 2 Timothy 3:16-17) to write their individual Gospel records. In modern times, nearly all serious Bible students tend to view the Scriptures, consciously or unconsciously, from the perspectives of either "Covenant Theology" or "Dispensational Theology." This book examines the Gospels through a Dispensational lens.
