Book Description
Michael Gray's memoir begins "When I was two years old I drowned" in the frigid waters of Lake Ontario. It goes on to reflect upon the life he has lived and the opportunities he has been given since that fateful day. Time soon emerges as a character in his story. A few milestones along the way have been his attendance at a transformative six-month retreat at the Nyingma Institute in Berkeley and when, at the age of 48, he added "Husband & Father" to his resume. Eventually his journey led him to Albuquerque, New Mexico where in the early 90's, together with a friend who has ALS, he co-founded "Friends in Time," a non-profit that serves people with the neuromuscular diseases of MS & ALS. Michael has published short stories, poetry, and articles in the Antigonish and Wascana Reviews, in Gesar magazine, and in the "Time, Space, Knowledge" Perspectives volume, A New Way of Being.

Book Description
Over the last fifteen years, American taxpayers have spent over $300 billion to wage the war on drugs--three times what it cost to put a man on the moon. In Drug Crazy, journalist Mike Gray offers a scathing indictment of this financial fiasco, chronicling a series of expensive and hypocritical follies that have benefited only two groups: professional anti-drug advocates and drug lords. The facts are alarming. More than twenty-five years ago, a presidential committee determined that marijuana is neither an addictive substance nor a "stepping stone" to harder drugs, but the embarrassing final report was shelved by a government already heavily invested in "the war against drugs". Many medical experts recommend simply prescribing drugs to addicts, and communities that have done this report a lower crime rate and reduced unemployment among drug users. In a riveting account of how we got to this impasse--discriminatory policies, demonization of users, grandstanding among both lawmakers and lawbreakers--conventional wisdom is turned on its head. Rather than a planned assault on the scourge of addiction, the drug war has happened almost by accident and has been continually exploited by political opportunists. A gripping account of the violence, corruption, and chaos characterizing the drug war since its inception, Mike Gray's incisive narrative launches a frontal attack on America's drug orthodoxy. His overview of the battlefield makes it clear that this urgent debate must begin now.

Book Description
From “a neglected master”: All four murder mysteries featuring the psychoanalyst turned sleuth in 1950s San Francisco (Ray Bradbury, author of Fahrenheit 451). Dr. Michael Gray is constantly drawn into the lives, and murders, of his clientele. Fortunately, this unconventional detective’s eye for human behavior just might keep him out of mortal danger . . . The Murder of Eleanor Pope: When a woman is killed in a foggy San Francisco park, the police suspect it was a robbery gone terribly wrong, but Dr. Gray’s troubled new patient may be the key to the truth. The Murder of Ann Avery: Everyone thinks a juvenile delinquent murdered Ann Avery, but Dr. Gray has a whole list of potential suspects—if someone doesn’t kill them first. Murder of a Mistress: When a call girl is murdered, four people confess to the deed. But the evidence points to one of Dr. Gray’s patients. Heiress Eileen Herrick may be a wild child, but Gray is out to prove she’s no killer. Murder of a Wife: Dr. Gray’s new patient is housewife Karen Champion. He was warned she’s a pathological liar, but he finds it difficult to ignore her claim that her husband is trying to kill her . . . “Kuttner is magic.” —Joe R. Lansdale, author of The Thicket

Book Description
Photographer Todd Gray worked with Michael Jackson for several years before Michael requested that he become his personal photographer, a relationship that would encompass Michael's performances with the Jacksons through the release of his smash solo albums Off the Wall and Thriller. This collection of unseen, intimate, and joyful pictures of Michael taken over a span of 10 years reveal him at home, with his family and fans, in career-making live performances, and on the "Beat It" video shoot. A young black man not much older than Jackson at the time they met, Gray brings unique insights to his time with the singer, contributing stories and context to the images, presenting a rare, intimate portrait of Michael at a creative peak as he grew from a brilliantly talented young man into a pop icon.
