Book Description
Some moments indelibly mark our lives. These are the moments when we know the trajectory of our existence has changed. We find ourselves confronting new territory and desperately trying to find our new normal. Often times, this new normal manifests through tragedy or illness. Have you ever been in a space where you knew your life would never be the same? Have you ever asked, "why me?" only to have God answer, "Because your pain isn't for you, it's for the benefit of others!" Have you ever made one decision that puts you smack in the middle of your purpose without even trying?Kimberly Joy Morgan was told at age 30 that she would need to take medication for the rest of her life. An antibiotic was given in response to what her doctor thought was a sinus infection. This is what altered her life forever. The antibiotic destroyed her digestive system and left her reeling in physical, mental, and emotional pain. She often tried to hide this pain and embarrassment from family and friends because she didn't want to appear broken. Determined to change the course of her health naturally, Kimberly set out on a 10-year mission to discover the root cause of her health issues and generate solutions. She was determined to regain her quality of life and heal her daily pessimism because there was entirely too much to live for. Share the Joy: 52 Weeks to Abundant Health takes you on a personal journey of restoration and growth while witnessing how Yahweh restored Kimberly

Book Description
Dr. John Inzerillo – Is focused on rekindling the joy and wonder that lies within all of us. He presents ideas and exercises expressly designed to help the reader reconnect with the child they once were, while examining and altering long-held belief systems in order to better negotiate many of life’s common stumbling blocks. The work’s insightful emphasis on compassion and grace illustrates the profound impact that simple, everyday gestures, such as offering a genuine smile or a word of praise and appreciation can have on our relationships as well as on our own sense of well–being. He gently coaches us through confronting and tackling some of life’s more difficult issues, especially those presented in the face of debilitating health conditions such as cancer, chronic pain, dementia, depression, heart disease, etc. Navigating through life’s stresses and challenges can be difficult at best, especially in today’s complex and demanding society. Let Discover the Joy of Good Health teach you how to liberate yourself from the guilt that prevents you from asking for what you want and need, and to stay in the present instead of focusing on past hurts and future expectations. He focuses on how to accept and adjust to change and how to set boundaries and free ourselves from the “need to please.”

Book Description
This book is for everyone from adolescent and on. It is a guide using a balanced approach to achieve joyful life. It outlines ways to achieve joy in forms of examples, quizzes and suggestions. In a way, it is like a recipe book where you can develop the recipe to suit your own individuality. However, all of the fundamentals discussed here lead to living a joyful life. Life is never without problems or issues, but problems and issues can be put in perspective and help minimized. It's easy to use and is meant for us to take notes, make evaluations of our progress, share with others, and really break each section down so we can learn how to apply it to our life and develop good habits. The concepts use a balanced approach and range from using common techniques such as breathing and yoga to steps we can use to boost self esteem and create positive relationships. Introduction To understand the meaning of joy, look at a little child who is playing with a toy. Children have an amazing ability to create a world with whatever is on hand. We see children give whatever they choose to play with their full and undivided attention. Children on a beach are a case in point; the only thing to play with is sand. However, they will create something, give it a name, put it in a context, and continue to build on that, completely oblivious to the weather, to the surroundings, and to people around them. When they are tired and want to go to bed, they'll quietly get up and go lie down. If we look at their face and study their body language, we see that they are utterly at peace with themselves. Maybe they are smiling, or humming, or even talking to themselves. They are relaxed. In a word, they are happy. This is real joy. If we are to apply this to ourselves, we will see that it is precisely the times when we were concentrating on some task we enjoy that we experience a sense of deep inner peace, bliss and contentment. As young adults, we are often confused about the meaning of joy. There is a tendency to link this feeling with externals: a shopping spree, hanging out, bumming it, rebelling against our parents or anyone in authority, and other such activities. Even as older people, we gravitate towards externals to afford us a sense of joy. What comes as a shock, sooner or later, is that in all of these circumstances, neither the young adult, nor the older person really experiences a feeling of joy: which, simply put, means that external things do not bring happiness. So, what is it that we are looking for? A thesaurus would give us many synonyms: delight, satisfaction, fullness of heart, elation, contentment. Take your pick. All of these are deep inner feelings. Therefore, they are directly connected to our minds, to what we think, and how we think. Joy is an inner peace, it is a sense of well-being. Where does it come from? It comes from deep within us. It comes from waking up to a brand new day and appreciating that fact; it comes from being aware of all the gifts that life has given us; it comes when we do right by ourselves and others; it is knowing and accepting that good and bad are part of life and that our calm sense of well-being and serenity will help us through all the rough spots, just as it will help us savor and relish the good spots.

Book Description
Could being Black in America make you sick?Over the last decade, Kevin Dedner has been on a mission to explore this powerful and troubling question, shining an unconventional spotlight on the impact of racism on mental health. In his debut book, The Joy of the Disinherited, Dedner articulates his call for urgent change: We must knock down the invisible barriers that make it harder for Black people to get the mental health care they need and deserve. Building on American author and civil rights leader Howard Thurman's Jesus and theDisinherited, widely considered a manual of resistance for the oppressed, Dedner uses Thurman's teachings to come to terms with the impact oppression has had on his own mental health and the mental health of Black Americans, digging into family stories as examples of the legacy of unresolved generational trauma of the disinherited. As a public health professional who has spent his career working on high-profile issues, Dedner uses his autobiographical essays to highlight the latest mental health research, while simultaneously interrogating the invisible barriers he has encountered along his own mental health journey. Dedner weaves together research, personal storytelling and a powerful sense of our shared history to drive the conversation about the future of mental health care for the Black community and other underserved groups ever forward.---"Dedner's noble endeavor to resurrect [Howard] Thurman's teachings within a poetic and articulate discourse on Black self-esteem and mental health - recurring themes in Thurman's books - will be a blessing for years to come. I know this book will not only challenge you, but put you on the path to find your own growing edge, and centering moment within the hectic and noisy world of today." -- Rev. Dr. Otis Moss III, Senior Pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, Illinois

Book Description
Now in paperback. The bestselling author of The Willpower Instinct introduces a surprising science-based book that doesn't tell us why we should exercise but instead shows us how to fall in love with movement. Exercise is health-enhancing and life-extending, yet many of us feel it's a chore. But, as Kelly McGonigal reveals, it doesn't have to be. Movement can and should be a source of joy. Through her trademark blend of science and storytelling, McGonigal draws on insights from neuroscience, psychology, anthropology, and evolutionary biology, as well as memoirs, ethnographies, and philosophers. She shows how movement is intertwined with some of the most basic human joys, including self-expression, social connection, and mastery--and why it is a powerful antidote to the modern epidemics of depression, anxiety, and loneliness. McGonigal tells the stories of people who have found fulfillment and belonging through running, walking, dancing, swimming, weightlifting, and more, with examples that span the globe, from Tanzania, where one of the last hunter-gatherer tribes on the planet live, to a dance class at Juilliard for people with Parkinson's disease, to the streets of London, where volunteers combine fitness and community service, to races in the remote wilderness, where athletes push the limits of what a human can endure. Along the way, McGonigal paints a portrait of human nature that highlights our capacity for hope, cooperation, and self-transcendence. The result is a revolutionary narrative that goes beyond familiar arguments in favor of exercise, to illustrate why movement is integral to both our happiness and our humanity. Readers will learn what they can do in their own lives and communities to harness the power of movement to create happiness, meaning, and connection.

Book Description
The inspiring and hilarious story of Patch Adams's quest to bring free health care to the world and to transform the way doctors practice medicine • Tells the story of Patch Adam's lifetime quest to transform the health care system • Released as a film from Universal Pictures, starring Robin Williams Meet Patch Adams, M.D., a social revolutionary who has devoted his career to giving away health care. Adams is the founder of the Gesundheit Institute, a home-based medical practice that has treated more than 15,000 people for free, and that is now building a full-scale hospital that will be open to anyone in the world free of charge. Ambitious? Yes. Impossible? Not for those who know and work with Patch. Whether it means putting on a red clown nose for sick children or taking a disturbed patient outside to roll down a hill with him, Adams does whatever is necessary to help heal. In his frequent lectures at medical schools and international conferences, Adams's irrepressible energy cuts through the businesslike facade of the medical industry to address the caring relationship between doctor and patient that is at the heart of true medicine. All author royalties are used to fund The Gesundheit Institute, a 40-bed free hospital in West Virginia. Adams's positive vision and plan for the future is an inspiration for those concerned with the inaccessibility of affordable, quality health care. Today's high-tech medicine has become too costly, impersonal, and grim. In his frequent lectures to colleges, churches, community groups, medical schools, and conferences, Patch shows how healing can be a loving, creative, humorous human exchange--not a business transaction.
