Book Description
Excerpt from The Irrigation Age, Vol. 25: November, 1909 It is estimated by the Tribune Company, having the exposition in charge, that there will be an attendance of at least people. It is assured that those peo ple who visit and study the exhibits carefully will do much toward advertising the West by explaining what they have seen to friends and neighbors. The Tribune has been liberal in its expenditures and is entitled to much credit for the manner in which the preparations for, the show have been handled. It remains to be proven that their estimate is cor rect, although the West trusts that their expectations may be fully realized. The irrigation age will be represented by a booth on one of the main aisles, and its many friends are invited to call and make themselves at home. Many thousands of sample Copies of this issue will be dis tributed during the time of the Exposition, and will, no doubt, greatly increase its paid circulation. Book Description
Excerpt from The Irrigation Age, Vol. 1 SO far as past time is concerned, the resolution does not cover the facts, unless in a technical sense. The Officers Of the National Irrigation Association were for several years in practical control of the National Irriga tion Congress, and the connection was one of substance if not of form. The connection proved anything but fortunate for the Irrigation Congress. The National Irrigation Association has been made up of men who had personal rather than public interests to serve. It was developed during Congressional hearings that this association was receiving a subsidy of a year from certain corporations, and it was plain that the usefulness of the National Irrigation Congress must come to an end if such influences were allowed to con trol it. They are not now in control, and we trust that they never will be. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Description
Excerpt from The Irrigation Age, Vol. 26: November, 1910 Mr. Mellen could testify that he saw the great North ern Pacific wrecked by the crowd of political leeches that it supported and enriched in its early days. Had the Northern Pacific spent as much money on irrigation systems and farm development as it did in running the politics of the Northwest up to the time Mr. Hill took it over, that company and the people along its lines would have been far more prosperous between 1880 and 1900. Mr. Mellen's words ought to be considered by many other railroad men. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
