Book Description
Excerpt from The Indian Nation Builders Macaulay says that the history of the counter-refor mation in Europe was really the history of St. Igna tius Layola, and we may also say with equal truth that the history of the Congress movement in India is the history of the public life of Mr. W. C. Bonnerjee. The position which this great institution occupies today is mainly due to the patriotic labours of Mr. Bonnerjee, his unceasing devotion, his tact, and his material contributions (in short, his position, power and purse) and this far more than is generally known - (mr. Gokhale on Mr. Bonnerjee in England). About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. It is highly unlikely that this would occur with one of our books. Our extensive quality control ensures that the readers of Trieste Publishing's books will be delighted with their purchase. Our staff has thoroughly reviewed every page of all the books in the collection, repairing, or if necessary, rejecting titles that are not of the highest quality. This process ensures that the reader of one of Trieste Publishing's titles receives a volume that faithfully reproduces the original, and to the maximum degree possible, gives them the experience of owning the original work.We pride ourselves on not only creating a pathway to an extensive reservoir of books of the finest quality, but also providing value to every one of our readers. Book Description
Excerpt from India's Nation Builders It has been a great pleasure to undertake the present task, in compliance with the request to write short but reasonably complete narratives of Indians that have served as pathfinders in the difficult work of nation-building in India. But delightful in itself though the writing of the book has been, it has not been quite so easy as one might have expected, by reason of the paucity of reliable material, or difficulties in having access to such material as is actually obtainable. There is an abundance of books that may be used as running commentaries on the various movements in India, social as well as political, but there is unfortunately, a regrettable dearth of authentic biographies from which one might glean salient facts, dates or leading episodes in the careers of great men. It is with a view of filling such gaps that the present modest attempt is made. But our object has not been so much to chronicle bare incidents as to strive to reveal the personality of the man whose contribution to one or the other of the liberalising movements in India comes under review. How far such attempts have been successful, we leave it to the readers to judge. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Description
America’s rise from revolutionary colonies to a world power is often treated as inevitable. But Charles N. Edel’s provocative biography of John Q. Adams argues that he served as the central architect of a grand strategy whose ideas and policies made him a critical link between the founding generation and the Civil War–era nation of Lincoln.
