While much that is contained in its pages should be of interest to architects, builders, managers, and trustees, the work is especially intended for the use of Superintendents, and other officers, attendants, and employes in general of hospitals and asylums those who are more directly concerned in the prevention and extinguishment of fire. The author, regretting the incompleteness of the work in many respects, trusts that it may at least suggest what is necessary to be done in order that the dangers from fire in Hospitals for the Insane and other public institutions may be greatly lessened.
