A Bibliography of William Wordsworth
Author: Mark L. Reed
Publisher: Cambridge University Press
ISBN: 1316139549
Category : Literary Criticism
Languages : en
Pages : 1859
Book Description
The publishing history of William Wordsworth's writings is complex and often obscure. These two volumes set out, for the first time, a comprehensive, detailed bibliographic description of every edition of Wordsworth's writings up to 1930. The great variety of forms in which readers encountered both authorized and unauthorized texts by Wordsworth is revealed, not only as produced during his lifetime but also during the years of his largest sales, popularity and influence, the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The bibliography provides new information about hundreds of printings and their internal and external designs, processes of production, sales, contents and variant texts and illustrations. More than a record of the transmission and reception of Wordsworth and his writings, it offers invaluable new data for the study of British publishing history and the reception and readership of British Romantic literature.

Complete Songs for Solo Voice and Piano, Part 1
Author: Hamish MacCunn
Publisher: A-R Editions, Inc.
ISBN: 0895798395
Category : Music
Languages : en
Pages : 289
Book Description
Britain, long revered for its choral music and partsongs, had largely neglected art songs since the Elizabethan era. The middle of the nineteenth century witnessed efforts to revive the genre, particularly in the works of Sir C. Hubert Parry and Sir Charles Villiers Stanford. The following generation, including the Scottish composer Hamish MacCunn (18681916), built on the foundations laid by Parry and Stanford and served as the bridge to the vocal music of Ralph Vaughan Williams, Sir Edward Elgar, Ivor Gurney, John Ireland, and ultimately Benjamin Britten. Though best known for his Scottish-influenced compositions, MacCunn composed over 100 songs that, free from national constraints, are some of the most refined and sophisticated examples of his music. Almost no modern editions of MacCunns song exist, though many were published during the composers lifetime. The current two-part edition presents the composers 102 extant songs. Part 1 contains 53 individual songs; part 2 presents the songs that were first published as sets.
