Abstract: Criteria for nutritional risk, nutritional requirements of teenagers, and counseling strategies are explained. Four sample lesson plans, especially designed for teens, provide learning activities, materials to meet stated objectives and evaluation activities, including a nutrition self assessment questionnaire. Abstract: The special needs of the pregnant teenager for basic nutrition knowledge are addressed in a curriculum module developed for teachers, dietitians or nurses who counsel pregnant adolescents. Four module blocks are organized around these nutrition concepts: factors influencing teenage food habits; nutrient needs of mother and baby; medical consequences of poor nutrition or drug abuse; and choosing a nutritionally adequate diet for the pregnant adolescent. Abstract: Teen pregnancies are considered by many professionals in both public and private sectors to be a serious national health problem. Nutritional, health, social, and educational risks are higher in this group than in the general population. To assist professionals concerned with improving the health of teenage mothers and their babies, this annotated bibliography was developed through public and private sector efforts. It is a guide to resources on topics related to nutrition and adolescent pregnancy.
