Book Description
In discussions of the church as the body of Christ (some Christou) within the Pauline corpus, numerous New Testament scholars have tried to come to grips with a fundamental but yet unresolved issue-the nature of the relationships between Christ via his own body and the church as body. The implicit assumption is that some Christou as ecclesiological language does point to Christ's once crucified but now risen body in some direct way-either mystically or metaphorically. This book examines exegetically that basic assumption in the light of the 18 ecclesiological references to soma and demonstrates that the expression is not a reference to Christ's personal body, as numerous scholars assert, but that it simply has the human body (any human body) as its referent. The book maintains that Christ's personal body, crucified and risen, becomes relevant only in a larger Christological and soteriological sense.

Book Description
Over the years there have been many treatments of Paul's theology that have focused on what the churches he wrote to were like, and what that might mean for today. However, what Paul says about relationships between churches has been frequently neglected, or only briefly considered. This book analyzes Paul's use of the word "church" as well as family imagery, holiness language, body imagery, and Paul's understanding of imitation and apostleship to demonstrate the breadth of his understanding of relationships between churches, of inter-church solidarity. Inter-church solidarity is shown to be integral to Paul's understanding of church from the earliest letters, and the book exposes a rich tapestry of relationships that should challenge and encourage the church in the twenty-first century.

Book Description
Edward Irving (1792-1834) has been known as a controversial pastor-theologian in nineteenth-century Britain, particularly given his belief that Christ took on sinful flesh in His incarnation. This book focuses on Irving’s teaching of the church as the body of Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit and the eschatological community in holiness. It explores Irving’s emphasis upon the exalted humanity of Christ after His resurrection in relation to the church. Such a Christ-centred and Spirit-empowered concept of the church has relevance to the twenty-first century church in China as the Chinese church leaders attempt to reconstruct a contemporary theology of the church.

Book Description
Technological innovation has changed nearly everything about human life, including how we teach and learn. Many Christian professors and institutions have embraced new technologies, especially online education. But as followers of Jesus Christ, we face the same call to grow in our faith. So how should we think about and approach Christian education in light of new technologies? Is it possible for us to grow spiritually through our digital communities? Steve Lowe and Mary Lowe, longtime proponents of online education, trace the motif of spiritual growth through Scripture and consider how students and professors alike might foster digital ecologies in which spiritual growth—even transformation—can take place.
