This is a collection of three stories that center around the British Monarchy centered in the great city of London England. In a real and imaginative sense, it controls the country and the British possessions through the world. The monarchy is much more than a collection of people, but ruling a large empire. The country of Britain does in fact have an elected legislature but it is heavily influenced by the royalty. The people of Britain love there monarchy, and all aspects of everyday life is governed in some sense by the royalty. Positions in the monarch are determined by inheritance. The persons that make up the royalty are waited on head and toe by a working class of people, who are handsomely rewarded. Royal life is greatly influenced by customs. What the royal persons and staff ae heavily determined by the royal leader, i.e., the king or queen. Those persons hold there positions for life, and operate without a passport, driver’s license, and ordinary credential, required by everyday citizens. Royal persons do operate as ordinary citizens as far as education and military requirements are concerned. In fact marriage between a man and a woman are governed by customs and not ordinary law. In such cases, the husband has total control. May persons say, and rightly so, that those persons are legally married. Yet, marital positions are heavily sought after. Of course, practically every person would like to be a prince or princess. Royal men are expected to participate in activities such as polo, hunting, and shooting. Royal women are expected to conform to royal behavior in dress and action. Numerous customs are known by all royals with regard to dress, action, and normal household activities. There are even culinary customs established by the queens. The royal family is wealthy beyond belief. In the modern world, royal men attend a university and serve in the military, usually as military officers. Royal persons have no last name. An unusual custom. Socially, royal men and women have behavioral signals that govern their personal aid and behavior. For example, if the queen is engaged in a situation she would like to terminate, she transfers her purse from left to right arms, and a royal aide recognizes the problem and remedies the situation forthwith. The media and parparazzi in England have some control over what happens in the royal arena through newspapers, television, and everyday presence at royal events. Some people think that the media has excessive power. However, it is one good way for the British population to know what is going on, since the people effectively pay through taxes pay for the cost of have a royal country. Persons entering the royalty for outside have immense pressure to conform and often experience extreme negative difficulties. It is not normal for royal persons to leave the monarchy. The book is a combination of three novels that describe the difficulties of royal life. The main characters are Matt, the mathematician, the General, a worldwide benefactor, and other people, such as Ashley, Anna, and Sir Charles (Buzz) Bunday, all of whom you have met in other novels. Matt Miller and Ashley Wilson met in a creative writing course and frequently got together after class to discuss items of interest, as students commonly do. They were friends, because they liked each other. After completing their university studies, Matt became an established mathematician and a prize-winning golfer. Ashley was seeking celebratory status as an actress. Matt’s grandfather, Les Miller, was a retired general in the U.S. Air Force, and subsequently the founder of an influential political polling company. He was referred to as “the General,” because of his collection of major accomplishments. The General was wealthy and liked to help people. This led to several interesting adventures for Matt, the General, and Ashley. But, we’re getting away from the story. Matt and the General were getting tired of the golf course at the Country Club and decided to give Hilton Head Island in South Carolina a try. They had heard that many foursomes drove straight down and got a couple of good rounds of golf and some nice dinners in a long weekend. Matt flew the General’s private plane to Hilton Head, and a promising weekend was in store. After checking in, Matt and the General went down to look at the golfing facilities and especially the course. Something unexpected occurred. They ran into General Mark Clark, a four-star general, who had retired from the Army as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Our General and General Clark were former associates, but their relationship was professional and their interface was through the President of the United States. In the military, a general is appointed for life. General Clark was concerned about a crucial project that he had volunteered to undertake but for which he needed help to resolve. As the President stated it, we have intelligence concerning an attack by aircraft on a vulnerable target in the States. It was what the President had learned from the President’s Daily Brief. After the country’s success in eliminating Osama bin Laden after the 911 attack, bin Laden’s brother indicated he was obligated to respond with a another terrorism attack of a significant magnitude on the United States. In a subsequent government intercept, it was determined that Hilton Head Island was to be the center of the operation. Surveillance determined a location, the person, the date, and a team of terrorists that were engaged in the attack. It was also indicated that the sophistication level of the planned operation was exceedingly high. The participants involved with the terrorist threat were permanent residents of the United States, and held U.S. passports, driver’s licenses, university diplomas, and actual wives and children. They were transparent to the American authorities. Matt, the General, and Ashley show how a keen intellect and impressive planning can defeat an enemy, regardless of its level of sophistication.

The Buckingham Palace is an impressive facility and it may or may not have guest rooms and conference facilities. England is a historic country and the notion of a Royal Monarchy is definitely something to be enjoyed. The book continues with the author’s tradition of no violence, no sex, and no bad language. As in the previous novels, Matt Miller, who has a PhD degree from a prestigious university, and uses mathematical thinking and solid logic, along with the organizational ability of General Les Miller, his grandfather, to solve several major problems, recognized by the President and the Intelligence Director of the United States, as well as two local problems that require the wisdom of the team. The subject matter is supplanted with a historical sequence that described the origin of the General and other team members. In this set of episodes, the action includes a governmental kidnapping, the problems of the military situation with China, the General, and two interesting local situations. Throughout, the activity uses the knowledge of General Mark Clark, the President, and three important women including Ashley, who is Matt’s wife, Anna, who is the General’s wife, and Ann, who is General Clark’s wife. The scene changes rapidly, but always in the scope of no violence, no sex, and no bad language. It is accessible to readers of all ages. The book typifies the conventional “beach” read in that the subject matter can be read as five separate stories. This is the fourteenth book in the Matt and the General series. The characters assume their dynamic personalities as in previous tales. A comment from the author is in order. It was a distinct pleasure to write about Matt, Ashley, Anna, the General, and the Sir Charles Bunday. They are foremost in my imagination. The doctors and medical terminology are just imagined, and anything medical is just made up from reading the Internet. Any reference to doctor’s conventions and procedures are imagined.

For most people in the modern world, the pandemic of 2020 is the worst thing that ever happened to them. With the military being no help in the matter, the team is called into action. The stage is set in a math conference in Zürich to recruit a famous Russian virologist through a famous Russian mathematician. As part of the plot, the General goes international when he buys an apartment in Klosters, Switzerland. An ingenious but dangerous plan to fly their Gulfstream into Moscow and extract the virologist is established and executed. The situation goes critical and a top-secret plan is established to bring the scientist to the States and form an effective virology lab under government control. Throughout the execution of their ingenious plan, the team is forced to acquaint itself with pathogen technology. The scientist is satisfactorily brought to the States. They had an operational problem in recruiting good operations people for the job. Again, the General comes to the rescue through an ad hoc recruitment in his apartment in Klosters.

The ability to deal with uncertainty is based on the methods of combining diverse possibilities into a coherent whole called a frame of discernment. Then, using a methodology known as Dempster-Shafer theory, evidence can be evaluated and a basis for decision making can be discerned. The effective use of Dempster-Shafer theory is conceptualized through computer methodology. Once determined to be unsolvable by experts, the methods contained herein have been solved by the author as a visiting professor in Switzerland. The methods are summarized in a research monograph entitled Managing Uncertainty and simplified in this book, along with an appropriate appendix that introduces the methodology. The book is comprised of introductory material followed by appropriate examples in essays that can be read in any order determined by the reader’s interests. The essays are based on peer reviewed journal articles presented at technical conferences. This is an introductory book about Artificial Intelligence Theory based on Service Science. It is not for AI specialists. It is too simple for them. As unusual as it sounds, there is a very good reason for its existence. There are existing books on the subject that are very good but are very difficult to read. Its that simple. A person should know what theory governs the new field of artificial intelligence, because we will be involved if only at the listening level or going into a meeting. Artificial Intelligence is here to stay this time. It’s a third try to bring the subject to the forefront. It is here for the future, and it is here to stay because the world needs it. We are in the midst of war, preparation for defense, a dismal economic outlook, crime, killing, and so forth. We need it because if we continue the way we are going, we won’t be going anywhere for very long. Practically everything is disarray. Just name them: violence, shady politics, global warming, discrimination, abortion, women’s birth problems, men’s cancer. What is the solution? It is twofold. Equitably use the information we have and permit the human race to communicate and act in a reasonable manner. Through Artificial Intelligence, often referred to as AI, we have the key to managing our lives on a daily basis – worldwide. There is a lot going on in the area of AI, as it’s called. Young people all over the place are into it. New software is being developed. There is a generative AI system named ChatGPT developed by a company named OpenAI that has done a good job with new developments. What is a manager to do. A company named IBM is in the field with a system called IBM Watson, that operates out of the cloud is also in the game. In fact, this book can give you some insight into what is going on. It contains three snippets on ChatGPT, IBM Watson, and Data Science that are included at the end of the book. Instead of business and government leaders having to tell us what they are going to do, we can and will be addressing that subject through AI. AI is a systems concept, not a single piece of software you can buy at a local store. Can you imagine a kid telling you they have computers and AI, meaning software apps. You will be able to obtain AI capability but it needs to be blended into the infrastructure to its host organization. A good example is the Watson System developed by IBM. It can, will, and has done wonders with design and analytics, but you probably will need some help in employing the computational infrastructure. There are already competition systems but Watson is mentioned because it beat some Jeopardy! champions at their own game. So, here is what we are providing to you with in this book. A straightforward description of the subject of AI that is easy to read. No more and no less. You can jump into this book at any point and get something out of it. In addition, you will get a quick survey of Service Science. After all, Artificial Intelligence is a service In the best sense of the word. The book is not expensive and something you would enjoy giving to a relative or friend. The book adheres to the author’s principle of no sex, no violence, and no bad language. It is accessible to all readers. This need not be said for a book of this type, but I like saying it.
