Thomas Seamans probably emigrated from Barbados Island (and probably originally from England) to Swansea, Massachusetts, and in 1687 married Susannah Salisbury (b.1635). Fletcher de la Seamans (1843- 1920), a direct descendant in the sixth generation, moved from New York to Appleton, Wisconsin, and served with Wisconsin troops during the Civil War. In 1868 he married Phoebe Matilda Chase and they settled in Alma City, Minnesota, later moving to Janesville, Minnesota. Descendants and relatives lived in New England, New York, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, California and elsewhere. Some descendants immigrated to Saskatchewan and elsewhere in Canada.

She was the daughter of William and Susannah Salisbury, and was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts. William Salisbury (1622-1675) came from Deabighahire, Wales. He came to America in 1635.
