Book Description
"One Schiff base ligand, bis(N,N-2-hyroxypropylenediaminesalicylaldimine), and its metal complexes were synthesized and characterized in this research. The synthesis was achieved by the condensation of salicylaldehyde with the amine group of 1,3- diamino-2-propanol in methanol. The mononuclear and dinuclear complexes from Schiff base with tradition metals Cu(Il) and Ni(II) were prepared by refluxing in ethanol. Detailed structural characterization of the ligand and its complexes was performed through NMR, magnetic susceptibility, UV-Vis spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, and Xray structure analysis. At room temperature, the effective magnetic moment of mononuclear Cu(ll) complexes is 1.82BM confirming the presence of one unpaired electron. It is distorted tetrahedral geometry and paramagnetic. The mononuclear Ni(Il) complex possesses the effective magnetic moment, [mu][subscript eff], 3.18BM which shows the presence of two unpaired electrons and paramagnetism. The magnetic properties are explained with a modified Bleaney-Bowers equation. This suggests a strong antiferromagnetic exchange interaction between two copper atoms in a dimeric complex. It was found through the X-ray structure analysis that the mononuclear Cu(II) complex possesses the triclinic lattice type and P-1 space group. The unit cell parameters are a= 7 .823(4)Å; b = 9.688(5)Å; c = 10. 715( 6 )Å; [alpha]= 91.56(1)°; [Beta]= 104.40(1)° ; and [gamma]= 95.53(1)°. The crystal system of dinuclear Cu(II) complex is a monoclinic lattice type and P21/c space group. The unit cell parameters are a= 18.084(2)Å; b = 20.869(2)Å; c = 9.894(1)Å; and [Beta] = 95.437(2)°"--Abstract, leaf iii.

Book Description
Coordination compounds have been well-known for their wide variety of applications for over a century, as well as enhancing the researcher’s interest and concern in evaluating their action mechanism. It is certainly one of the most intensely discussed research topics. Coordination compounds involve different metal-ion-ligand phenomenon. The involved metal ions play a significant role in structural association and functioning of several processes in the genetic and metabolism system. In recent years, Schiff base ligands have gained significant interest and received a keen interest of many researchers. Schiff’s base ligands have been recognized to hold a wide variety of biological and medicinal activities due to the presence of donor atoms. They have proved exceptional pharmalogical actions such as antimicrobial, anti-tuberclosis, antiplatelet, antidiabetic, antiarthritis, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antiviral, antimalarial, and analgesic. These biologically active Schiff base ligands have also been shown to inhibit enzyme mobilization and, when bound to a metal ion, exhibit enhanced biological activity, making them useful in a number of fields. As a result, metal complexes of Schiff base ligands are gaining popularity due to their unique properties and functionalities. Schiff base complex-based research for educational and industrial purposes is booming, and the number of publications is gradually increasing. Despite these interests, there is currently no detailed book on Schiff base metal complexes that covers the structures, biological activities, and other non-biological perspectives. This book delves into the structures of Schiff base metal complexes, which are critical in assessing the biological viability of any complex. It also highlights their biological significance in pharma and drug discovery like antibacterial, antifungal, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritis, anti-diabetic, antioxidants, anti-proliferative, antitumor, anticancer, antiviral. The fundamentals of metal complexes are described, as well as an up-to-date outline of developments in synthesis, characterization methods, properties- chemical, thermal, optical, structural, and applications. This book also discusses the other applications of Schiff base metal complexes: as sensor (luminescent, electrochemical, and biosensor), as pigments in dying and paint industries, as photocatalyst to improve the degradation rate. Features : This book would be useful for academia, researchers and engineers working in the area of Schiff base and their metal complexes. This book will give an in-depth account of the properties of Schiff base and their metal complexes. This book will discuss the details of synthesis methods for Schiff base and their metal complexes. This book will cover emerging trends in the use of Schiff base metal complexes in the industry. This book will provide an overview of the wider biological applications of Schiff base metal complexes

Book Description
The condensation of primary amines with aldehydes or ketones gives products known as imines or Schiff bases which contain a C=N group. Metal complexes of Schiff bases have contributed widely to the inorganic chemistry of chelate system. The extreme sensitivity of physical and chemical properties of Schiff base compounds to small changes in the substitution and in the environment, together with their ready availability justify their extraordinary wide spread applications. The chelating properties of Schiff bases towards transition metal ions were of interest to many authors. The Schiff bases are expected to exhibit variable bonding and stereochemical behavior in their complexes because of the presence of several alternates bonding donor sites. Accordingly, this book contains preparation and characterization of a series of Schiff bases derived from the condensation of benzopyran-4-one derivatives with aliphatic diamines (ethylenediamine and trimethylenediamine). The mode of chelation of some transition metal ionswith these Schiff bases was elucidated by different techniques. The book is a valuable study to inorganic chemists those research coordination compounds of transition metals.

Book Description
This work has been carried out to investigate thecatalytic activity of some Schiff Base complexes incyclopropanation of non-activated olefins. Ten newSchiff base ligands were prepared (three diamines andseven thiosemicarbazones) and Characterized byelemental analyses and spectral studies (IR, NMR, UVand mass spectroscopy). One of the prepared diamineligands was optically active. Moreover, sometransition metal complexes of these ligands wereprepared by the reaction of the transition metal ionswith these new ligands, and characterized byelemental analyses, spectrophotometric studies (IR, NMR, ESR and UV-Vis.), molar conductivity andmagnetic moment determinations beside ESRmeasurements to enable the elucidation of thegeometrical structure of the prepared metalcomplexes. The results came with good agreement withthe proposed structures. Some of the prepared copperand cobalt complexes were investigated for theircatalytic activity in cyclopropanation ofnon-activated olefins and some of them showed anexcellent reactivity with a moderate to excellentselectivity. Five of the examined copper complexescan be used as catalysts in industry
