Book Description
The Book of Job functions as literature of survival where the main character, Job, deals with the trauma of suffering, attempts to come to terms with a collapsed moral and theological world, and eventually re-connects the broken pieces of his world into a new moral universe, which explains and contains the trauma of his recent experiences and renders his life meaningful again. The key is Job's death imagery. In fact, with its depiction of death in the prose tale and its frequent discussions of death in the poetic sections, Job may be the most death-oriented book in the bible. In particular, Job, in his speeches, articulates his experience of suffering as the experience of death. To help understand this focus on death in Job we turn to the psychohistorian, Robert Lifton, who investigates the effects on the human psyche of various traumatic experiences (wars, natural disasters, etc). According to Lifton, survivors of disaster often sense that their world has "collapsed" and they engage in a struggle to go on living. Part of this struggle involves finding meaning in death and locating death's place in the continuity of life. Like many such survivors, Job's understanding of death is a flashpoint indicating his bewilderment (or "desymbolization") in the early portions of his speeches, and then, later on, his arrival at what Lifton calls "resymbolization," the reconfiguration of a world that can account for disaster and render death - and life - meaningful again.

Book Description
Survivor PE Style was developed as a positive way for children to take on responsibilities and to bring important character traits to the field of competition. Fitness levels in children have dropped dramatically over the past few years, which is very alarming to me. This successful program was put to the test in 2002 in my fourth and fifth grade PE classes. I realized by observation this was the "future" for children and knew it needed to be shared with the world! This program is fun, creative, and a challenging adventure for children who, during their journey, will learn coping skills, leadership skills, respect, courage, perseverance, self-control, initiative, attitudes, and the challenges themselves. With this program, Peninsula Heritage School students' level of fitness increased. The children had a new and exciting journey to enjoy. I'm confident that as you read this book you will feel as though you are really experiencing the journey and adventures with these children. Come and explore this new way to motivate others, be it young children or adults, in Survivor PE Style!

End-Time Survivor explains what the Bible says about the days in which we live, the things to come, and how you should prepare for them The global situation is rapidly deteriorating. Conflict, economic meltdown, social disorder, famine, and natural disasters are in the news every day. Christians are coming under increasing pressure to compromise their faith. The Bible is clear that the situation will get worse before it gets better During the last few days of His earthly ministry Jesus shared with His closest disciples a dramatic account of what believers should expect to see at the end of the age. End-Time Survivor provides an original and detailed insight into these end-time prophecies, combining them into a comprehensive, plausible, start-to-finish handbook of end-time Bible prophecy to educate and arm Christians to face the challenging days ahead. End-Time Survivor will equip you with faith and hope to face the future so that you will know how to respond and not be taken by surprise. End-Time Survivor will help you to: - understand the grand panorama of end-time Bible prophecy - know how to look for and interpret the signs of the times - know what steps to take to prepare for the trouble ahead - understand your personal responsibility to invest in the Kingdom of God End-Time Survivor - provides a comprehensive end-time prophetic reference guide, in an authoritative yet highly readable style - provides an unprecedented depth of analysis of Jesus' three major prophetic discourses from the Gospels and Book of Revelation - synthesizes these with other scriptural sources into a safe, robust and reliable prophetic chronology for the last days, with clear phases and key events, supplemented with helpful tables, charts, maps and keys - considers and identifies our present position in the timeline, based on a reasoned and thoroughly researched assessment of historical and current events - leaves the reader in no doubt about what is to come in the short, medium and long terms, with particular reference to practical personal preparation - stirs faith and hope based on the clear promises of God's word End-Time Survivor provides innovative keys to highlight: - 'laws' for interpreting prophecy; - prophetic signs to watch for; - 'secret things' currently hidden from us; - suggested Bible memory verses; and - practical actions we should take now to prepare
