Book Description
The writer and star of The State, Wet Hot American Summer, The Baxter, and Michael & Michael Have Issues brings readers his uniquely absurd humor in his hilarious first book. I was at my wit's end. I'd had enough of this job, this life, and my relationship had broken up. Should I eat chocolate, or go to India, or fall in love? Then I had a revelation: Why not do all three, in that order? And so it was that I embarked on a journey that was segmented into three parts and was then made into a major motion picture. Later, I woke up on an airplane with a hole in my face and a really bad hangover. I was ushered brusquely off the plane by my parents who took me to a rehab where I tested positive for coke, classic coke, special k (the drug), Special K (the cereal), mushrooms, pepperoni, and Restless Leg Syndrome. It was there that I first began painting with my feet. But rewind...the year was 1914. I was just a young German soldier serving in the trenches while simultaneously trying to destroy an evil ring with some help from an elf, a troll, and a giant sorcerer, all while cooking every recipe out of a Julia Child cookbook. What I'm trying to say is that there was a secret code hidden in a painting and I was looking for it with this girl who had a tattoo of a dragon! Let me clarify, it was the 1930s and a bunch of us were migrating out of Oklahoma, and I was this teenage wizard/CIA operative, okay? And, um then I floated off into the meta-verse as a ball of invisible energy that had no outer edge... Ugh, okay. None of this is true. I'm just kind of a normal guy from New Jersey who moved to New York, got into comedy, wrote this book about trying to write this book, and then moved to Alaska, became the mayor of a small town, spent $30,000 on underwear, and now I'm going to rule the world!!!

Unintended Thought
Author: James S. Uleman
Publisher: Guilford Press
ISBN: 9780898623796
Category : Psychology
Languages : en
Pages : 496
Book Description
Bringing together an array of outstanding contributors, this volume offers an in-depth examination of unintended thought--its underlying mechanisms, consequences in day-to-day life, and role in mental and emotional disturbance. Chapters describe a number of important phenomena that are influenced by unintended (and sometimes automatic, uncontrolled, or unconscious) ways of perceiving and interpreting the social and physical environment. These include inferences and judgments about self and others, stereotyping and prejudicial behavior, the impact of persuasive messages, long-term goals, responses to stress, and clinical depression. Key questions explored include the extent to which research findings in controlled settings bear on cognition and behavior outside the laboratory; how such constructs as intention and control of thought have been operationalized by investigators; and when self-control of unintended thought is possible or even desirable. Researchers, practitioners, and graduate students in cognitive, social, personality, and clinical psychology will find much of value in this unique work.

Jeneration X
Author: Jen Lancaster
Publisher: Penguin
ISBN: 045141716X
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 382
Book Description
In Such a Pretty Fat, Jen Lancaster learned how to come to terms with her body. In My Fair Lazy, she expanded her mind. Now the New York Times bestselling author gives herself—and her generation—a kick in the X, by facing her greatest challenge to date: acting her age. Jen is finally ready to put away childish things (except her Barbie Styling Head, of course) and embrace the investment-making, mortgage-carrying, life-insurance-having adult she’s become. From getting a mammogram to volunteering at a halfway house, she tackles the grown-up activities she’s resisted for years, and with each rite of passage she completes, she’ll uncover a valuable—if probably humiliating—life lesson that will ease her path to full-fledged, if reluctant, adulthood.

Let Me Just Say
Author: Eddie Hall
Publisher: Troubador Publishing Ltd
ISBN: 1783061960
Category : Humor
Languages : en
Pages : 312
Book Description
From the UK’s youngest grumpy man, who brought you A Certain Point of View, comes another hilarious collection of rants. Eddie Hall’s one-man crusade against the forces of stupidity continues in his second journal. In this book, Eddie tries to uncover the answers to more important worldly questions, like why cinema seats are designed to paralyse people from the waist down (why in the name of Dumbledore’s danglies do they make the seats so uncomfortable?) as well as offer useful insights; if people who drive Nissan Micras are the herpes of the road, people who ride Mopeds are the gonorrhoea (they are slow, ugly, unsafe and could make even Keira Knightley look ridiculous and unattractive) and why no man will ever understand what a woman is talking about (I’ve yet to fully master this bizarre language). Like Eddie’s previous book, this is a collection of satirical articles covering a wide range of topics that will be enjoyed by fans of humorous books. Eddie, whose writing style is comparable to that of Jeremy Clarkson, adopts an informal, conversational style that draws the reader in and allows them to relate to his (very valid) points. Warning: This book contains sarcastic material. Do not read if you suffer from any of the following conditions: A sense of humor deficiency, Humorphobia, Easilyoffendeditis or Americanitis.
