Spiritual Humanism
Author: Louis Carini
Publisher: Xlibris Corporation
ISBN: 1462810845
Category : Philosophy
Languages : en
Pages : 150
Book Description
Astronomers discarded first hand visual observations, because each observer measured a star's transit as occurring at a different time. Physicists soon followed them, so that now instrumental measurements are the only data that physics and astronomy accept. The theory of evolution followed them in that physicalist mode by accounting only for the physical survival of organisms. That is why their sciences deny the existence of anything of a spiritual nature. This little book examines their theorized big bang beginning, and the physicalist theory of evolution, in the light of the newly measured human consciousness, through whose thinking processes both of those sciences arose. Spiritual humanism aims to provide a nondogmatic faith in humanity, and in principles which place human beings, their values, their thinking, and their enspirited consciousnesses as central to creating all of our sciences. The spiritual aspect arises especially from our consciousness which allows us to reflect upon what is in our awareness. The qualities of our awarenesses and consciousness are explained by the anthropomorphic theory of human perception which attributes human qualities even to our senses. The book suggests that consciousness places us in a realm of being beyond the physical. Though our physical brains are proposed as the basis for that consciousness, the outcome in consciousness creates a spiritual quality in human beings. Spiritual humanism, accordingly, is concerned with human beings, and is centered entirely in this human world rather than in any other. Thus a non dogmatic spiritual humanism for fostering the potentialities in human beings in this world is what this little book means to provide. The experiences of the young Helen Keller show how consciousness becomes the basis for disinterested interests: the ability to be deeply engrossed in something unrelated to our own self interest. That disinterested interest, is what lies behind our engagements with the arts, the sciences and our religious aspirations. The assumption of an entirely physical origin for the physicists' theoretical big bang along with Darwin's physicalist theory of evolution are criticized, because both methodologies preclude finding anything of the spirit. A reinterpretation of what follows from these critiques, and the positive formulation of the humanist science of anthropomorphic optics and its implications, are what the book provides.

Spiritual Artificial Intelligence (Sai)
Author: Muskan Garg
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 9783031737183
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 0
Book Description
This unique book delves into the convergence of artificial intelligence (AI) principles--rooted in scientific knowledge and technological advancements--with the concept of spiritual wellness, exploring their significance in our increasingly automated and digitized world. The author offers a synthesis of two domains often perceived as distinct, appealing to both technologists and spiritual thinkers. Beginning with an exploration of the definitions and scope of "spiritual AI," the book encourages the quantification of spiritual wellness, illustrated through examples from current literature. It sheds light on the evolution of the spiritual quotient, presenting it as an integration of intelligence quotient (IQ) and emotional quotient (EQ), enhanced by dimensions of spirituality. The discussion spans various application domains and delves into the mind's entanglement-like phenomena, raising critical questions: Can a machine truly attain consciousness? How do spiritual wellness and quantum mechanics intertwine? The author invites readers to ask their own questions, contemplate the boundless possibilities of spiritual AI, and challenge existing paradigms. Defines and explores the realms of spiritual artificial intelligence; Presents the current literature over quantification of mind and spiritual wellness; Dives into applications of spiritual AI grounded in the dimensions of spirituality.

The Quest for a Universal Theory of Intelligence
Author: Christian Hugo Hoffmann
Publisher: Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG
ISBN: 3110756196
Category : Philosophy
Languages : en
Pages : 300
Book Description
Recent findings about the capabilities of smart animals such as corvids or octopi and novel types of artificial intelligence (AI), from social robots to cognitive assistants, are provoking the demand for new answers for meaningful comparison with other kinds of intelligence. This book fills this need by proposing a universal theory of intelligence which is based on causal learning as the central theme of intelligence. The goal is not just to describe, but mainly to explain queries like why one kind of intelligence is more intelligent than another, whatsoever the intelligence. Shiny terms like "strong AI," "superintelligence," "singularity" or "artificial general intelligence" that have been coined by a Babylonian confusion of tongues are clarified on the way.

Artificial Intelligence and TheFuture of Power
Author: Rajiv Malhotra
Publisher: Rupa Publications India Pvt Limited
ISBN: 9789390356430
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 522
Book Description
A recurrent debate surrounding AI concerns the extent of human work that could be replaced by machines over the next twenty years when compared to new jobs created by AI. Numerous reports have addressed this issue, reaching a wide range of conclusions. Experts consider it a reasonable consensus that eventually a significant portion of blue- and white-collar jobs in most industries will become obsolete, or at least transformed, to such an extent that workers will need re-education to remain viable. This percentage of vulnerable jobs will continue to increase over time. The obsolescence will be far worse in developing countries where the standard of education is lower.

Romantic Confusions of the Good
Author: Marion Montgomery
Publisher: Rowman & Littlefield
ISBN: 9780847683949
Category : Literary Collections
Languages : en
Pages : 296
Book Description
With special attention to the Romantic poets from Wordsworth and Coleridge down to Pound and Eliot, distinguished scholar Marion Montgomery explores the disorientation of image and metaphor from reality. The book focuses on the virtues and limits of the intuitive intellect as they are explicated by Thomas Aquinas in relational intellect, and the 'Romantic' poet's dependence upon the intuitive and rational modes of intellectual action, two species of 'romanticism' centering in presumptuous autonomy emerge: that of the poet and that of the scientist.
