Pierce is found in the affirma tive. May 26, 1836, on the following - Re solved, That Congress ought not to interfere in any way with slavery in the District of Columbia - Franklin Pierce voted yes, Cush ing, Jackson, Phillips, &c., no; and upon the resolve to lay all petitions, &c., on the table without further action, Franklin Pierce voted yes, Cushing and friends no.
