Book Description
Volume III/28 is a supplement to volume III/16a+b Ferroelectrics and Related Substances. It also consists of two parts a and b. The present subvolume III/28a contains data on ferroelectric oxides, supplementing III/16a which appeared in 1981. Subvolume III/28b, due in 1990, will cover non-oxides, supplementing III/16b (published in 1982). Reliable data on both pure compounds and solid solutions, published mostly between 1978 and 1986 and some data from the literature up to early 1988 are critically evaluated and included. The dielectric and ferroelectric behaviour, as well as all other properties relevant to the characterization of these substances are presented in tables and figures. About 22,000 references have been surveyed with the aid of a computer. All values are given in SI units. Rapid localization of the required data is facilitated by an alphabetical index of substances and a two-dimensional survey of substances and properties dealt with in both subvolumes III/28a and III/16a.

Book Description
Nanoscale Compound Semiconductors and their Optoelectronics Applications provides the basic and fundamental properties of nanoscale compound semiconductors and their role in modern technological products. The book discusses all important properties of this important category of materials such as their optical properties, size-dependent properties, and tunable properties. Key methods are reviewed, including synthesis techniques and characterization strategies. The role of compound semiconductors in the advancement of energy efficient optoelectronics and solar cell devices is also discussed. The book also touches on the photocatalytic property of the materials by doping with graphene oxides--an emerging and new pathway. - Covers all relevant types of nanoscale compound semiconductors for optoelectronics, including their synthesis, properties and applications - Provides historical context and review of emerging trends in semiconductor technology, particularly emphasizing advances in non-toxic semiconductor materials for green technologies - Reviews emerging applications of nanoscale compound semiconductor-based devices in optoelectronics, energy and environmental sustainability

Book Description
High magnetic fields have been an important tool in semiconductor physics for a long time. The area has been growing very rapidly since quantum effects in silicon field-effect transistors have become of practical interest. Since the discovery of the quantum Hall effect by Klaus von Klitzing in 1980, this subject has grown exponentially. The book contains 42 invited papers and 37 contributed papers which were presented at the 7th of the traditional Würzburg conferences. For the area of high magnetic fields applied in semiconductor physics recent results are discussed, and the state-of-the-art is reviewed. More than 50% of the papers concern two-dimensional electronic systems. Other subjects of current interest are magneto-optics and magneto transport in three-dimensional semiconductors. Special attention has been paid to the rapidly growing field of semimagnetic semiconductors.

Book Description
International Conference on Infrared Physics (CIRP) is a collection of papers from the proceedings of a conference held in Zurich on August 11-15, 1975. The book reviews the study of thermal radiation with emphasis on the spectral energy density of small blackbody cavities. The text also deals with the concept of density of states of quantum-size effects in statistical mechanics of finite non-interacting systems. One paper discusses the interaction of radiation with matter, while another presentation reviews the theory of cavity radiation based on multiple reflections within the cavity. The book then presents developments in infrared detectors, particularly the performance of photon and thermal detectors in the heterodyne mode. One paper examines the materials that can be used for making filters in the far infrared region using a Michelson interferometer to determine the region of spectra and a germanium bolometer as the detector. The book then cites an example where a high resolution Michelson interferometer is used on a NASA C141 infrared airborne telescope where scientists study the far infrared emission lines from the HII regions. The collection will prove useful to nuclear physicists and scientists, academicians, and researchers whose works are concerned with infrared physics and engineering.
