Book Description
This report presents the results of an occupational survey of the Space Operations career ladder (AFS 20XX). The purpose of this study were to provide information for an update of the Undergraduate Space Training (UST) course training standards (CTS), to evaluate the need for educational and experience prerequisites, and to provide information on where to provide hands-on training. Survey results were based on the responses of 756 Space Operations personnel. Fourteen major jobs were identified in this study. Two were independent jobs (Manned Space FLight Officers and Trainers), and the remainder fell into either the Staff Personnel cluster or the Crew Activities cluster. Although administration, management, and command tasks predominated for all jobs, junior officers typically performed the bulk of the technical tasks.

Undergraduate Space Training: A Review of the Proposed Curriculum
Author: Robert D Vento (Jr)
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 38
Book Description
Formal military training for AFSC 20XX, Space Operations Utilization field, has been a hit or miss operation until late 1985. Upon its activation, AFSPACECOM became the source manager and predominant 'user' of 20XXs. As part of this responsibility AFSPACECOM, with the assistance of ATC, began rebuilding and consolidating the 20XX training program. Undergraduate Space Training (UST), the initial step in the formal (Category 1) 20XX training process becomes a reality in 1986. As part of the building process, and in keeping with ISD methods, this report provides initial 'user' feedback on the proposed academic subject listing contained in the draft ATC/AFSPACECOM UST/CTS. The 'users' in this case are the AFSPACECOM field units that employ the 20XX resource. This report provides 'users' the opportunity to 'tweak' or adjust the proposed UST/CTS before it is used for the first time. The feedback is consolidated in this report for ATC and AFSPACECOM to use before starting the course.

United States Space Force, An Introduction
Author: G. J. Maier
Publisher: Independently Published
ISBN: 9781094608518
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 61
Book Description
The United States Space Force, An Introduction - Key Concepts and Overall ProgressionSpace-based capabilities provide integral support to military, commercial, and civilian applications. Longstanding technological and cost barriers to space are falling, enabling more countries and commercial firms to participate in satellite construction, space launch, space exploration, and human spaceflight. Although these advancements are creating new opportunities, new risks for space-enabled services have emerged. Having seen the benefits of space-enabled operations, some foreign governments are developing capabilities that threaten others' ability to use space. The Derpartment of Defense proposes to establish, in Fiscal Year 2020, a United States Space Force as a separate branch of the Armed Forces within the Department of the Air Force. If authorized, the Secretary of the Air Force will be responsible for organizing, training, and equipping two separate and distinct Military Services: the United States Space Force and the United States Air Force. A uniformed 4-star Chief of Staff of the Space Force would serve as a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. A new Under Secretary for Space would provide dedicated civilian supervision of the Space Force. The U.S. military must posture itself to assure freedom of operation in space, to deter attacks, and, when necessary, to defeat adversary space and counterspace threats to the national security interests of the United States and its allies and partners.
