Book Description
Smoke Bellew (1912) by Jack London, with the original illustrations by P. J Monahan. John Griffith "Jack" London, was an American author, journalist, and social activist. He was a pioneer in the then-burgeoning world of commercial magazine fiction and was one of the first fiction writers to obtain worldwide celebrity and a large fortune from his fiction alone. SMOKE BELLEW was the first book published after his string of titles based upon the Pacific voyage of the "Snark"; he wrote this thereafter, while he and Charmian were settled into their "Beauty Ranch." Jack was still recovering from some of the diseases he had incurred on the trip, and was increasingly relying upon alcohol to assist him. An unabridged edition, to include: The Taste of the Meat - The Stampede to Squaw Creek - Shorty Dreams - The Man on the Other Bank - The Race for Number One

Book Description
Although best known for his novel Call of the Wild, Jack London was a talented and prolific writer whose fiction spanned multiple genres. For its time, London's work also displayed a rare degree of experimentation with narrative form. Although Smoke Bellew is a traditional novel on many levels, it also plays with structure in interesting ways. Some literary experts point out that Smoke Bellew may more accurately be described as a series of interconnected short stories featuring the same title character than a novel. A must-read for fans of the action-adventure genre.

Book Description
The book tells the story about a young American writer who, so to say, flees from his editor to Alaska with his uncle. The author interests how danger and natural atmosphere of Klondike gradually changes the weak and spoiled big city inhabitant. On the other hand, “Smoke Bellew” is far from boring didacticism. It is full of humor, north exotica and adventures, – with what gold-diggers face every day. As a sample of jokes in “Smoke Bellew” the chapter of “A Flutter in Eggs” can serve. One actress decides revenging to her boyfriend in a pretty strange way. She buys all eggs in a town. What is going to be next? Go and read in a nail-biting Jack London’s novel.

Book Description
Jack London (1876-1916), was an American author and a pioneer in the then-burgeoning world of commercial magazine fiction. He was one of the first Americans to make a lucrative career exclusively from writing. London was self-educated. He taught himself in the public library, mainly just by reading books. In 1898, he began struggling seriously to break into print, a struggle memorably described in his novel, Martin Eden (1909). Jack London was fortunate in the timing of his writing career. He started just as new printing technologies enabled lower-cost production of magazines. This resulted in a boom in popular magazines aimed at a wide public, and a strong market for short fiction. In 1900, he made $2,500 in writing, the equivalent of about $75,000 today. His career was well under way. Among his famous works are: Children of the Frost (1902), The Call of the Wild (1903), The Sea Wolf (1904), The Game (1905), White Fang (1906), The Road (1907), Before Adam (1907), Adventure (1911), and The Scarlet Plague (1912).
