Excerpt from Sixty-Third Session of Athens Female College, Athens, Alabama: For the School Year 1904-5 and Announcement for the School Year 1905-6 In 1869 the North Alabama Conference was organized, and Athens, with all the northern part of the State of Alabama, came into the con fines of that Conference, and there was transferred to the North Ala bama Conference all church property in that territory formerly held by the Tennessee Conference. Thus did the institute become the property of the North Alabama Conference. In 1872 the charter was amended, changing the name to Athens Female Institute.
