Book Description
Single pion electroproduction in the resonance region has been studied as a means of exploring the physics underlying the structure of the nucleon. Recent experiments using CLAS at Jefferson Lab/Hall B have measured unpolarized cross sections and beam spin asymmetries over a large kinematic range. The high statistical accuracy of this data set provides important information on the Delta(1232) and the Roper.

Book Description
Analysis of the single pion electroproduction data is one of the most powerful tools in investigating the nucleon resonances in the first and second resonance regions. Recent pion electroproduction experiments using CLAS detector at Jefferson Lab for the first time provides us with data for the cross sections and the single beam spin asymmetries for both epto e' n pi^+ and epto e' p pi^0 channels. In order to analyze this data an analysis program based on the Mainz unitary isobar model was developed at Jefferson Lab. The single pion electroproduction cross sections and the single beam asymmetry data were fitted simultaneously to obtain the resonant amplitudes for the excited states in the first two nucleon resonance regions. Preliminary results will be presented for the electroproduction amplitudes for the S_11(1535) and D_13(1520) resonances.

Book Description
The differential cross sections and the single beam asymmetries have been measured for the single pion electroproduction on the proton at Q2 = 0.4 GeVZ using CLAS. The large phase space coverage of CLAS and the high statistical accuracy of the data allowed us to perform the analysis of single pion electroproduction observables and to obtain the A1/2 amplitudes for the S11(1535). The preliminary results of this analysis are in good agreement with the {eta}-meson production data.

Book Description
This work is the first step of a systematic study of incoherent electroproduction of pion mesons off the deuteron in the (1232) resonance region, it is taken by restriction to the impulse approximation, i.e., neglecting pion rescattering and two-body effects. The elementary operator for pion electroproduction from the nucleon is taken from the unitary isobar model (MAID) which is a model for single pion photo- and electroproduction off protons and neutrons. This approximation corresponds to the so-called spectator model in which the pion production takes place on a single nucleon inside the deuteron while the other nucleon acts merely as a spectator.

Book Description
Forward-angle differential cross sections for the (.pi., .pi.°) reaction leading to the Isobaric Analog State in the residual nuclei at 300, 425, 500 and 550 MeV have been measured. Targets ranged in mass from 7Li to 2°8Pb. A description of the experimental setup and the analysis is presented. The 0° cross sections are found to rise markedly between 300 and 425 MeV, contrary to the extrapolation from the lower energy data and to the behavior of the free pion-nucleon single charge exchange process. The angular distributions are sharply forward peaked. Systematics of the data indicate increased volume penetration with increasing pion beam energy. The cross sections are compared with the results of Glauber model calculations indicating the significance of higher order processes even at these energies. 67 refs., 40 figs., 22 tabs.
