Book Description
Giving and reflection on lifes curves, and its ups and down, enables us to take ordinary everyday things and turn them into inspirations. Who wants to grovel in the mud, run through sharp thistles, and squeeze through the thorny hedges of life? Not me! I trust encouragement will be in multiplications of hope and abundant freedom of the I love living life people around you even when life sucks. Sharing brings us into a realm of happiness and joy. Use something from this book and pass it on, then add something new and fresh of you own. Blessed By God to Be a Blessing You are blessed by God to be a blessing. We receive power beyond ourselves To do what we already know, Its because in the beginning was the Word, Speaking blessing upon blessing like snow. We are blessed to be a blessing, For Gods blessing became flesh and blood, And moved into the neighborhood To live among those he loves. Remember how God spoke to Moses . . . Tell Aaron to give blessing to my land. So he cried, The Lord bless you, protect you, For his face radiates upon you with joy. Paul passed on Gods grace to the Church, His grace, his love, his communion now ours To pass on to others around us. Weve freely received, so let us freely give out. God speaks blessing and still speaks From the beginning of time until the now, So lets pass it on like Moses and Paul Hes blessed us to be blessings galore. Yes, were blessed by God to bless others. The Color of My Heart
Author: Judith A. McGee

ISBN: 1467064246
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 336
Book Description
Forty six years hadnt wiped away the memories of 1955 and 1956. I still was fearful someone from the past would harm me. Time stood still and I pictured the people exactly as they were then. As I looked around things were even more dismal now than they were fifty years ago. As we drove past the High School my mind drifted back to the morning I was summoned to the Principals office and I could hear his voice and feel the viciousness that spewed from his mouth We dont want your kind here, and if your Momma and your Daddy will agree well be glad to send you to reform school at Chilacothe. And I can guarantee you well lynch that nigger if he shows up at the Homecoming next week! I was scared to death. I had to warn Andy. That night I found out his parents had whisked him out of town. What was I going to do? The bus ride to Denver seemed endless. This would be the farthest I had ever been from home and I had NEVER been this far by myself. My life as I had known it was over. Why had my parents kept the real ugly truth hidden from me? Could I, a fifteen year old girl, survive the hatred in America that I was just learning about. Thank God I would be safe with Andy. We could conquer racism with love, couldnt we? Although the U.S. Supreme Court decision to legalize Interracial Marriages in Amercia with the Loving v. Virginia case was establisted in 1967, Andy and I were the first Black/White Interracial Couple to legally be married in Colorado ten years earlier in 1957.

Oxidative Stress in Heart Diseases
Author: Sajal Chakraborti
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 9811382735
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 589
Book Description
This book bridges the gap between fundamental and translational research in the area of heart disease. It describes a multidisciplinary approach, and demonstrates biochemical mechanisms associated with dysregulation of redox signaling, which leads heart disease. Presenting recent studies on improved forms of ROS scavenging enzymes; specific inhibitors for different ROS generating enzymes; and oxidant induced signaling pathways and their antagonists that allow subtle modulation of redox signaling, it also discusses the spatial and temporal aspects of oxidative stress in the cardiovascular system, which are of vital importance in developing better strategies for treating heart disease. Each chapter offers researchers valuable insights into identifying targets for drug development for different types of heart disease.

Biophysics of the Failing Heart
Author: R. John Solaro
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 146147678X
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 254
Book Description
Subjects in the monograph “Biophysics of the Failing Heart” include state of the art chapters considering major biophysical mechanisms for why hearts responding to acquired or inherited stressors enter into maladaptive processes eventually leading to an inability of the heart to respond efficiently to hemodynamic loads especially during exercise. The chapters describe biophysical techniques that have been applied to determine the triggers for the heart failure process as well as the mechanisms for sustaining the disorders. These techniques include measurements of active and passive mechanical properties and hemodynamics at levels of organization ranging from molecules to hearts beating in situ. Biophysical concepts and approaches are also applied to determination of signaling and signal transduction, energetics, ionic currents, transport processes, electro-chemical and chemo-mechanical coupling. By its emphasis on biophysical aspects of a prevalent clinical condition, the monograph is unique in its perspective and focus. The breadth of information in the chapters all in one place will be of value to clinicians and researchers at all levels. Modern research approaches and clinical understanding of heart failure demands integration of multiple aspects of the disorders. In most cases, combinations of clinician scientists and researchers author the chapters. A main benefit of the book is couched in its didactic approach together with its emphasis on how biophysical concepts and techniques aid in diagnosis and development of new therapies.

Book Description
The last book of the Bible is not primarily about weird beasts, strange allegories, or encoded detail about the final years of Planet Earth. It's a book which focuses on one great fact which trumps all others throughout the whole of AD history. It's a simple fact, but a fact which changes everything: God is on the Throne of the universe, and he is working out his strategies from the control-room of Heaven. Getting to the Heart of the Matter
Author: Carl Levin
Publisher: Wayne State University Press
ISBN: 0814348408
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 346
Book Description
Former senator Carl Levin’s memoir demonstrates the value of pragmatism, empathy, and compromise. Representing Michigan for thirty-six years in the U.S. Senate, Carl Levin, the longest-serving senator in Michigan history, was known for his dogged pursuit of the truth, his commitment to holding government accountable, and his basic decency. Getting to the Heart of the Matter: My 36 Years in the Senateis his story – from his early days in Detroit as the son of a respected lawyer to the capstone of his career as chair of both the Senate Armed Services Committee and the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations. Levin's career placed him at the center of some of our nation's most critical points in modern times: from the aftermath of the 1967 Detroit riots, to the Clinton impeachment, through 9/11 and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the 2008 financial crisis. He met with numerous world leaders, including Egypt's Anwar Sadat and China's Jiang Zemin. Getting to the Heart of the Matterrecounts Levin's experiences, thoughts, and actions during these historic moments. Consisting of seventeen chapters, the book takes the reader through Levin's early life in Detroit of the 1940s, 50s, and 60s where he met his wife, started a family, practiced law and served as the first General Counsel for the newly created Michigan Civil Rights Commission and the chief appellate defender for Detroit's Legal Aid Office. Elected to the Detroit City Council in 1969, where Levin served for eight years including four as Council president, the book describes how his fight against the Department of Housing and Urban Development's devastating housing practices in the neighborhoods of Detroit led him to run for the U.S. Senate with a pledge to make government work more effectively. Winning election six times, Levin had an illustrious career in the Senate where he challenged leaders in government and the private sector for the greater good of the nation. Levin describes how, as a Democrat, throughout his time in the Senate, he worked with Republican senators who often held different policy positions in order to find common ground to achieve national goals, and how he and his Senate staff searched for creative solutions to trade issues, support for the auto industry and manufacturing sector, U.S. military action in Iraq and Afghanistan, and efforts to protect the Great Lakes and the environment, among many other issues. Levin's hope in writing this memoir is that by sharing his deeply held beliefs about the responsibility of elected officials, the book will serve as a resource for people beginning a career in, or contemplating running for, public office. Readers with an interest in politics, history, facts, and perseverance will find kinship in this book.
