Book Description
"The Sigg Prize is a biennial award that recognises outstanding practices of artists born or working in the Greater China region. The prize is a platform to highlight and promote on an international scale the important work and discussions taking place here. For this inaugural edition, an international jury has selected six shortlisted artists to participate in the Sigg Prize 2019 exhibition before the winner is announced in May 2020. The shortlisted artists are Hu Xiaoyuan (born 1977, lives and works in Beijing), Liang Shuo (born 1976, lives and works in Beijing), Lin Yilin (born 1964, lives and works in New York), Shen Xin (born 1990, lives and works in Minneapolis and Amsterdam), Tao Hui (born 1987, lives and works in Beijing), and Samson Young (born 1979, lives and works in Hong Kong). They encompass different generations and geographies and work across a range of mediums, including sculpture, site-specific installation, video, and performance. Their practices articulate clear perspectives on topics that defy easy categorisation, and the work featured in this exhibition addresses pressing questions that resonate across contexts."--West Kowloon events website (accessed 5/11/2020).

Master the art of user experience design through the 100 laws, guidelines, human biases, and general considerations in this comprehensive, cross-disciplinary encyclopedia. Richly illustrated and easy to navigate, Universal Principles of UX pairs clear explanations of each concept with visual examples of the ideas applied in practice. The book is organized into six broad categories: Consider Empathize Define Research Design Validate And, features principles as diverse as: Design is not neutral Make the choice easy Some complexity cannot be reduced Map the ecosystem So you think you can scroll Don’t grade your own homework User Experience is a field notable for its expansiveness, complexity and persistent evolution. This book is not a chronological retelling of the history of user experience design. It is also not a technical how-to book that will show you how to become a perfect user experience designer one step at a time. It's a philosophical anthology of case studies, situations, problems, and contradictions encountered across more than fifteen years of working on real world client projects that will teach you how to think, rather than tell you what to do. Each principle is presented in a two-page format. The left-hand page contains a succinct definition, a full description of the principle, examples of its use, and guidelines for use. Sidenotes appear to the right of the text, and provide elaborations and references. The right-hand page contains visual examples and related graphics to support a deeper understanding of the principle. This landmark reference is the standard for designers, engineers, managers, and students who seek to broaden and improve their user experience design expertise. The titles in the Rockport Universal series offer comprehensive and authoritative information and edifying and inspiring visual examples on multidisciplinary subjects for designers, architects, engineers, students, and anyone who is interested in expanding and enriching their design knowledge.

Book Description
Fractured Scenes is the first extensive academic account of music and sound art practices that fall outside of the scope of ‘mainstream music’ in Hong Kong. It combines academic essays with original interviews conducted with prominent Hong Kong underground/independent musicians and sound artists as well as first hand-accounts by key local scene actors in order to survey genres such as experimental/noise music, deconstructed electronic music, indie-pop, punk, garage rock, sound art and DIY ‘computer’ music (among others). It examines these Hong Kong underground music practices in relief with specific case studies in Mainland China and Japan to begin re-defining the notion of a ‘musical underground’ in the context of contemporary Hong Kong.

Book Description
Right is Wrong is an extremely concentrated contemporary art history narrated through a number of key works. It gives us the opportunity to look at the connections between art and society from the specificity of recent Chinese history by showing the development of the art scene in relation to the socio-political development in China. Right is Wrong raises questions about the relationship between art and contemporary life and contemporary history. It inquires about how art reflects or mirrors a society and simultaneously influences it, about how art not only reacts to and comments on events and incidents, but also is an agent shaping our future. This exhibition raises the question: what can art do? The relationship between art and society, art and ideology, art and politics, is the underlying theme which runs through Right is Wrong.0Exhibition: Bildmuseet, Umeå, Sweden (08.06-12.10.2014).
