Book Description
Early in 1964 the Lake States Forest Experiment Station published a report on "Recreational use of the Quetico-Superior area" by Dr. Robert C. Lucas. It showed the amounts and distribution of different kinds of uses, discussed the factors related to distribution, and outlined trends in use. In the report presented here, Dr. Lucas attempts to relate the use patterns and trends to the area's capacity for producing wilderness experience for visitors. The work is an interpretation of user viewpoints and activities in terms of land management implications. Such interpretations need to be considered, along with biological, economic, legal and other factors in settling management policies -- from foreword.
