Excerpt from Seed, Fertilizer and Agricultural Implement Catalog for 1921 This photograph shows a view of our new Fertilizer Plant on Tolland Street, East Hartford as seen from the highway which passes in front of these buildings. This plant has, a capacity of about tons per year and is one of the most modern plants of its kind. All bulk materials are unloaded by means of mechanical devices into a bin adjacent to cars which enter one end of the high portion of the building. Materials are then distributed into large bins by means of an overhead electric crane which is fitted with a grab bucket. This is the only Fertilizer plant in the New England States which uses the crane for handling materials. These buildings with equipment were completed November 18, 1920.
