Pages : 58
Book Description
The purpose of this report is to detail maintenance of Corps of Engineers structures in Saxon Harbor which maintain the harbor entry channel and inner basin and provide navigational safeguards. The two breakwaters are repaired by the cranebarge MARKUS which, in conjunction with tugs, tenders, and bottom dump scows, perform maintenance dredging in the area. Dredge material generated during construction of the harbor was used as fill for the breakwater cells or placed in a disposal area nearby. Beach nourishment has been used in the past, with open-lake disposal possible only when rough water conditions make beach nourishment possible.
