It concentrates on the ancestors of two individuals who lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: Joseph Sailer, M.D. (1867-1928), and his wife, Mary Lowber Strawbridge (1875-1963). The book is divided into two main parts. Part A covers the history of several generations of Sailers, beginning with Wilhelm Sailer, who was born in New Jersey in 1758, and ending with the children of Joseph and Mary Sailer. Part B covers the Strawbridges, beginning with John Strawbridge, who was born in Ireland in the early 1700s and came to America around 1752.
