Book Description
The sun shined down, reflecting off the water of the pond below. Robby the duck flapped his wings as hard as he could to gain a little extra altitude. The wind blew cold and fresh in his face, and the sun warmed his back. As he reached the peak of his climb, he slowed his wings, turning his beak down toward the ground that lay far below him. He then folded his wings in close to his body, leaving only the narrow edges of his wings extended into the wind. He lowered his head and started a steep dive, down through the clouds he flew. The wind roared in his ears, and he had to squeeze his eyes almost shut to protect them from the wind. In just a few seconds, he was moving very fast, sixty miles per hour, then seventy. The wind screamed like the fireworks at the Fourth of July; it was so loud it hurt his ears, and the ground grew closer at a frightening speed. Robby was a brave duck, but he knew ducks were not meant to fly at this speed and fear began to creep in on him. When the fear finally got the best of him, he edged his right wing out to slow his descent. But it was too late; his wing caught the wind, and he rolled to the left, losing control and going into a wild spin. As the ground rushed up, he spun helplessly out of control. Fear griped him, and he let out a terrifying scream. Everything went black. The scream woke up the other toys in the bedroom where Robby lived. The old stuffed elephant who sat on the shelf above the bed looked down in scorn."Dreaming of flying again, Robby?" he asked in a very rude voice. The other toys broke out in laughter. The old brown bear that sat in the corner of the bed smiled. "Foolish duck," he said. "When will you learn that rubber ducks can't fly?"

Book Description
Robbie, smallest of the litter, was the most appealing. Thus, the Fitzgeralds decided not to sell him even though they could’ve used the money. As he grew up, Robbie seemed able to read the thoughts of the denizens he encountered in the beautiful forests of Sussex County. Tutored by his mother, Robbie loved all life in his natural environment. Then, to help a runaway boy and a beleaguered woman, he traveled east to more populous areas of the state and, after further adventures there, was taken to New York City and Wall Street. The remainder of the book recounts the fateful trials of his custodian and Robbie’s strenuous and unceasing endeavors to get back to his home, including terrifying experiences with gruesome dog fighting and ugly street living.”

Book Description
Ahoy! Here We Go Around the World with 10 Little Rubber Ducks "Ducks overboard!" shouts the captain, as a giant wave washes a box of 10 little rubber ducks off his cargo ship and into the sea. The 10 little rubber ducks are swept away in various directions. One drifts west, where a friendly dolphin jumps over it. A whale sings to another. But, as the sun sets, the 10th little rubber duck is left all alone, bobbing helplessly on the big wide sea. Small readers and listeners will empathize with the little duck's plight -- and will rejoice at the heartwarming surprise ending. In this poignant and funny story, illustrated with strikingly designed collages, Eric Carle also takes readers on an exciting voyage of discovery. Following the little ducks as they float to all parts of the globe, young explorers can see for themselves the meanings of directional words, and learn simple math concepts such as counting and the use of cardinal and ordinal numbers. Each creature the ducks meet is seen in its own habitat and behaves in a true-to-life manner, offering a very simple first view of biology and geography. All aboard for a world of learning and fun!

Book Description
A beautifully written coming-of-age novel nominated for the 2017 CILIP Carnegie Prize from an acclaimed literary voice. A lost boy. A dead girl, and one who is left behind. A village full of whispers and secrets. When the white hare appears, magical and fleet in the silvery moonlight, she leads them all into a legend, a chase. But who is the hunter and who the hunted? 'There's magic in Michael Fishwick's The White Hare, a haunting story of a troubled London teenager [and] a tender reflection on father-son relationships' EVENING STANDARD. 'Finely tuned prose, a rich sense of place, magical folklore elements, multi-dimensional characters, and a well-paced plot create a suspenseful contemporary tale of grief, retribution, and healing' KIRKUS, Starred Review. 'Myth, mystery, love and loss collide in an utterly gripping, deeply atmospheric, coming-of-age novel' THE BOOKSELLER.
