Le thème de ce mémoire porte sur la recherche de liens entre le trouble de l'organisation temporelle et le retard de parole. Le rythme est omniprésent dès les premières années de la vie ; d'abord purement biologique, il s'intègre progressivement dans l'activité tonico-motrice de l'enfant. Il s'associe à la parole par le biais de la chaîne phonématique et de la ligne prosodique. Le rythme organise donc harmonieusement le développement de l'enfant en s'inscrivant dans toutes les fonctions élémentaires. Il nous a semblé intéressant de rechercher si une perturbation intervenant durant la phase développementale et entraînant un trouble du rythme a une quelconque influence sur l'acte de parole. Nous avons émis l'hypothèse qu'il existe une corrélation entre le trouble du rythme et le retard de parole. Le but de notre étude est de vérifier si les défaillances concernant l'organisation et la structuration temporelles d'un enfant ont une influence sur l'acquisition de la parole. Notre étude a porté sur 22 enfants âgés de 6 ans. Avant de tester les divers aspects du rythme telles que la reconnaissance et la reproduction de structures rythmiques, nous avons tout d'abord évalué le niveau de parole des enfants afin de déterminer 2 groupes avec et sans retard de parole. Il résulte de notre analyse statistique que les troubles de reproduction rythmique sont liés aux troubles phonologiques de la parole. Une corrélation a pu être établie entre le trouble du rythme lors de la reproduction de structures rythmiques et l'aspect phonologique du retard de parole entraînant une difficulté d'organisation des phonèmes dans le mot lors de la répétition.

Although speech-language pathologists are expected to be able to administer and interpret oral examinations, there are currently no screening tests available that provide careful administration instructions and data for intra-examiner and inter-examiner reliability. The Oral Speech Mechanism Screening Examination (OSMSE) is designed primarily for use by clinical speech-language pathologists. The examination could also serve, however, as a useful tool for oral myofunctional therapists, as well as physical therapists, dentists, and orthodontists interested specifically in speech. It is reliable, relatively easy and quick to administer, and appropriate for children and adults in either diagnostic or therapy settings. The OSMSE is intended to assess those anatomical structures and physiological functions that are most often considered to be potentially related to speech or language disorders. Structural and/or functional judgments included are organized on the OSMSE test form under categories of: lips, tongue, jaw, teeth, hard palate, soft palate, pharynx, breathing, and diadochokinesis. Results of a preliminary study with normal speaking subjects indicated that the OSMSE had satisfactory intra- and inter-examiner reliability after minimal training. The time required to administer the examination typically ranged from 5 to 10 minutes. (Author/GK)
