Throughout the chapters, the reader can pursue various representations of gender and love and explore how their meanings are produced in different periods and geographies. These representations produce embodied individuals and shared meanings in which gender and love mutually construct each other. As you will see in the following chapters, what we set out to understand, most of the time, was not individual relationships but the relations of power.
