Resumen: El presente trabajo de investigación partió de la pregunta ¿Qué habilidades cognitivo lingüísticas del pensamiento social emergen en la enseñanza-aprendizaje de competencias comunicativas y emocionales para la ciudadanía apoyada en teatro en un grupo de ocho niños y niñas de edades entre los 8 y 11 años en educación no formal del municipio de Dosquebradas?, su desarrollo fue bajo un enfoque interpretativo con un diseño de estudio de caso sencillo que tiene como centro la identificación de las habilidades cognitivo lingüísticas. Se establecieron categorías que permitieron distintas variantes de análisis en relación con las habilidades cognitivo lingüísticas que los estudiantes usan con mayor periodicidad en sus intervenciones, al mismo tiempo se evidenciaron contribuciones con respecto al pensamiento social. De acuerdo a los resultados obtenidos en la investigación, la habilidad cognitivo lingüística más utilizada fue la explicación, seguida de la descripción; la argumentación y la justificación fueron menos utilizadas a lo largo de desarrollo de la secuencia didáctica.
