Book Description
The purpose of the Work Plan is to provide a detailed scope of work and technical approach to successfully complete EPA Work Assignment No. 108.4LA4, dated March 1985. Objectives/Problem Quantification: • To determine the presence or absence of chemical contamination on the site proper, including former spray fields, trash disposal area, two former holding ponds, former waste lagoon, and office & production areas • Hydraulically characterize the water table aquifer in the near vicinity of the site (depth to water table, gradient, aquifer thickness, permeability, flow direction & velocity • Determine the presence or absence of site-related chemical contamination within the water-table aquifer • Determine the potential for the water-table aquifer to be hydraulically connected to the Floridan Aquifer • Determine the presence or absence of site-related chemical contamination in surface water, sediments & wetland areas that are contiguous to the site • Compile a data base that will support a site-related Public Health and Environmental Assessment • Conduct a site-related Public Health and Risk Assessment that will evaluate: existing & potential pathways for contaminant transport; location of existing & potential receptors; risk to receptors associated with existing or potential exposure to site-related contaminants • Determine the need to collect additional data to further define site characteristics. FS Objectives: • Identify candidate remedial alternatives • Evaluate candidate remedial alternatives to support EPA selection of preferred alternatives. The need for performing additional RI work & for conducting the optional FS will be decided by EPA after review of results generated in this study.
