Book Description
Excerpt from Proceedings of the Institute of Radio Engineers, 1922, Vol. 10 L2. CZ is a blocking condenser. The antenna is loosely coupled to the system thru a few turns of L1. The plate voltage Of volts was provided by dry cells which were placed in the lower case of the transmitter. The filaments were lead by six volt storage battery. The output Of the transmitter was from 10 to 15 watts. Electrically considered, this is practically the same arrangement as the transmitter used experimentally by the Allies at the end of 1917 on the West Front. Book Description
Empire of the Air tells the story of three American visionaries—Lee de Forest, Edwin Howard Armstrong, and David Sarnoff—whose imagination and dreams turned a hobbyist's toy into radio, launching the modern communications age. Tom Lewis weaves the story of these men and their achievements into a richly detailed and moving narrative that spans the first half of the twentieth century, a time when the American romance with science and technology was at its peak. Empire of the Air is a tale of pioneers on the frontier of a new technology, of American entrepreneurial spirit, and of the tragic collision between inventor and corporation.

Book Description
One of the most widely used reference books on applied mathematics for a generation, distributed in multiple languages throughout the world, this text is geared toward use with a one-year advanced course in applied mathematics for engineering students. The treatment assumes a solid background in the theory of complex variables and a familiarity with complex numbers, but it includes a brief review. Chapters are as self-contained as possible, offering instructors flexibility in designing their own courses. The first eight chapters explore the analysis of lumped parameter systems. Succeeding topics include distributed parameter systems and important areas of applied mathematics. Each chapter features extensive references for further study as well as challenging problem sets. Answers and hints to select problem sets are included in an Appendix. This edition includes a new Preface by Dr. Lawrence R. Harvill. Dover (2014) republication of the third edition originally published by McGraw-Hill, New York, 1970. See every Dover book in print at www.doverpublications.com
