La prévalence des symptômes anxieux et dépressifs a augmenté de manière spectaculaire chez les jeunes et reste plus élevée qu'avant la crise et que celle observée dans d'autres classes d'âge, en dépit de la réouverture partielle de l'économie. Plusieurs facteurs entrent en jeu dans la détérioration de la santé mentale : perturbations de l'accès aux services de santé mentale, large impact des fermetures d'établissements scolaires, et effet disproportionné de la crise du marché du travail sur les jeunes. S'ils bénéficient d'un accompagnement adapté et d'interventions précoces, les jeunes en situation de détresse psychologique pourraient être en mesure de rebondir au sortir de la crise du COVID-19. Il conviendra pour cela de développer l'aide existante en matière de santé mentale dans les systèmes éducatifs, les entreprises et les systèmes de santé, et d'adopter des politiques globales pour aider les jeunes à poursuivre leurs études ou à trouver, et conserver, un emploi.

Over the past two decades, there has been a major increase in research into the effects of the arts on health and well-being, alongside developments in practice and policy activities in different countries across the WHO European Region and further afield. This report synthesizes the global evidence on the role of the arts in improving health and well-being, with a specific focus on the WHO European Region. Results from over 3000 studies identified a major role for the arts in the prevention of ill health, promotion of health, and management and treatment of illness across the lifespan. The reviewed evidence included study designs such as uncontrolled pilot studies, case studies, small-scale cross-sectional surveys, nationally representative longitudinal cohort studies, community-wide ethnographies and randomized controlled trials from diverse disciplines.
