Los actos de habla de la pragmática, esas acciones que realizamos por medio del lenguaje, han sido descritos en una variedad de lenguas y culturas, aunque aún quedan muchos actos de habla por describir en diferentes lenguas y contextos. El interés por el análisis de los actos de habla en una lengua radica en la comprensión del funcionamiento de la comunicación, en general, y del estilo comunicativo particular de una comunidad lingüística concreta, fruto de analizar aquellos en su relación con la perspectiva pragmática de la cortesía. Otro interés de los análisis de los actos de habla radica en poner ese conocimiento a disposición de otras áreas o disciplinas que puedan requerirlo para fines diversos como, por ejemplo, el aprendizaje de lenguas. Cuando se aprende una lengua extranjera, esos actos de habla deben aprenderse si se desea lograr una competencia comunicativa en esa lengua y solventar los frecuentes problemas que surgen en el encuentro intercultural entre dos lenguas-culturas. En el mundo globalizado y multilingüe actual, donde las interacciones interculturales son más frecuentes que nunca, esa competencia, a menudo subestimada en el aprendizaje de lenguas, está adquiriendo un importante valor. El presente libro se centra en ambos aspectos del estudio de los actos de habla.
