Book Description
Excerpt from Practical Calculation of Transmission Lines: For Distribution of Direct and Alternating Currents by Means of Overhead, Underground, and Interior Wires for Purposes of Light, Power, and Traction This little book is offered to the engineering profession with the hope that it may be of practical help in the rapid and accurate calculation of transmission lines. Its existence is the outcome of the belief that this field is in part barren. Its chief mission is to substitute a direct solution for the trial method which was formerly a necessary evil. The arrangement of the formulas, tables and text has been dictated solely by the needs of the rapid worker. All sections except the last include the important effects of temperature and specific conductivity, The section relating to direct-current railways is novel in the form of its tables, and the methods outlined in it have been found rapid and comprehensive, The alternating-current division presents a new and original method for the solution of these problems. It is the only method known to the author which determines the size of wire directly from the volt loss in the line, and it also possesses unique features of scope, accu racy and simplicity. The chapter on single-phase railways is in accord with most of the consistent data published on the subject, although further accurate investigations of installed lines may modify to some extent the present accepted values. Book Description
Does that transmission line, which connects your antenna and transmitter, seem like a mystery to you? Or perhaps your have other questions: Just how much of the transmitter's rated output power actually gets to the antenna? How much power is consumed by the line itself? Just what is the input impedance of the antenna? Or, what is the input impedance at the transmitter end of a transmission line when the antenna is connected to its other end? Why does my tuner seem to work better on some bands than others? What is the effect of high transmission line SWR? Should I be concerned about high SWRs? What can I do about them? It is the unusual operator who has not at one time or another asked one or more of these questions. Well, now you can easily answer these questions and many others! Using simple language the author of this book, a former electronic design engineer and amateur over more than 60 years, shows how to find the answers, quickly, easily and accurately. Those more technically inclined can work with the equations provided by the book; those who just want answers without all the math can use a personal computer and specially developed, easy-to-use programs from a CD and get accurate answers directly with the click of a button! But there is more: the book contains many solved examples and each solution is followed by a thorough discussion. Now you can get answers while you learn about transmission lines.

Book Description
Transmission Pipeline Calculations and Simulations Manual is a valuable time- and money-saving tool to quickly pinpoint the essential formulae, equations, and calculations needed for transmission pipeline routing and construction decisions. The manual’s three-part treatment starts with gas and petroleum data tables, followed by self-contained chapters concerning applications. Case studies at the end of each chapter provide practical experience for problem solving. Topics in this book include pressure and temperature profile of natural gas pipelines, how to size pipelines for specified flow rate and pressure limitations, and calculating the locations and HP of compressor stations and pumping stations on long distance pipelines. Case studies are based on the author’s personal field experiences Component to system level coverage Save time and money designing pipe routes well Design and verify piping systems before going to the field Increase design accuracy and systems effectiveness
