Book Description
The Constitution of Mexico is the current constitution of Mexico. It was drafted in Santiago de Querétaro, in the State of Querétaro, by a constituent convention, during the Mexican Revolution. The current Constitution of 1917 is the first such document in the world to set out social rights, serving as a model for the Weimar Constitution of 1919 and the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic Constitution of 1918. Some of the most important provisions are Articles 3, 27, and 123; adopted in response to the armed insurrection of popular classes during the Mexican Revolution, these articles display profound changes in Mexican politics that helped frame the political and social backdrop for Mexico in the twentieth century. Article 3 established the basis for a free, mandatory, and secular education; Article 27 laid the foundation for land reform in Mexico; and Article 123 was designed to empower the labor sector, which had emerged in the late nineteenth century and which supported the winning faction of the Mexican Revolution.

Book Description
This book provides an overview of Mexico's political evolution since it became independent from Spain in 1821, and its current constitutional arrangements, principles and structures. The aim is to explain this evolution as the result of struggles between the interests and ideologies of different groups within Mexican society, each with a different political vision of how the State should be organised. Chapter 1 reviews Mexico's constitutional trajectory, and explains why democracy, republicanism, federalism, separation of state and church, protection of fundamental rights and the Nation's ownership of mineral resources first became constitutional principles. Chapters 2, 3, 4 and 5 deal respectively with democracy and the electoral system, and the legislative, executive and judicial branches of federal government. Chapter 6 introduces the institutional structure of Mexico's federal system, while Chapter 7 discusses the rules, principles and institutions for the protection of human rights. Chapter 8 examines the constitutional regime of Mexico's economy. The conclusion explains how a series of factors has combined to produce a gap between the formal Constitution and what can be seen as the living Constitution; bridging that gap presents Mexican politics and society with one of its great contemporary challenges.

Book Description
UPDATED EDITION FEBRUARY 24, 2017On February 5, 1917 a dynamic and vigorous era began in Mexico, this was possible with the signing of the Constitution made in the city of Queretaro. It was not a "simple" Magna Carta, which is no small thing, it was a document emanating from the revolutionary process that made it the first constitution that openly expressed a social agenda. Among its relevant points, it emphasizes the interpretation it made of Democracy as a system of life based on the constant economic, social and cultural improvement of the people and not only as a legal or political framework. With this the State initiated a series of commitments for the construction of a Welfare State, although the concept as such did not exist in 1917.The Mexican Constitution has also been noted for being a flexible document that addresses the need of the Mexican people to change their maximum regulatory framework according to the demands of each time. It is necessary for anyone interested in their study to have the current text, recalling the Latin sentence Ignorantia juris non excusat, ignorance does not exempt from compliance with the law. This particular edition has the most modern elements of electronic publishing, which allow you to highlight contents and include annotations, in addition to being able to see the annotations that others make to it, besides that its format does not require to be consulted only when there is a connection To the Internet, but can be reviewed in areas lacking Wi-Fi or mobile data. Finally, it is necessary for the publisher to continue updating the text, according to the additions, reforms or derogations that the subsequent congresses make so that when buying the text will permanently have an updated version of it.

Book Description
The current Constitution of 1917 is the first such document in the world to set out social rights, serving as a model for the Weimar Constitution of 1919 and the Russian Constitution of 1918. Some of the most important provisions are Articles 3, 27, and 123; these display profound changes in Mexican political philosophy that helped frame the political and social backdrop for Mexico in the twentieth century. Aimed at restricting the Roman Catholic Church in Mexico, Article 3 established the basis for a free, mandatory, and secular education; Article 27 laid the foundation for land reforms; and Article 123 was designed to empower the labor sector, which had emerged in the late nineteenth century and which supported the winning faction of the Mexican Revolution.Articles 3, 5, 24, 27, and 130 seriously restricted the Roman Catholic Church in Mexico, and attempts to enforce the articles strictly by President Plutarco Calles (1924-1928) in 1926 led to the violent conflict known as the Cristero War.In 1992, under the administration of Carlos Salinas de Gortari, there were significant revisions of the constitution, modifying Article 27 to better guarantee private property rights and ended redistribution of land, and the articles restricting the Roman Catholic Church in Mexico were largely repealed.
