De Fonblanque, who was a son of John Fonblanque, editor of the Examiner and perhaps the most brilliant journalist of the early nineteenth century, was, like myself (and Mr. John Pownalll See page employed in the War Office, so I feel that, if he had been born later, or I earlier, we should have been colleagues.
