Book Description
La Morte Amore: Vampire Poetry of the 1800s From the introduction, The Dark Embrace by Corvis Nocturnum Classic romantic vampire poetry had its roots in the early 1700s and well into the next century. Vampires and their shift from decaying, foul revenents was first in poetry, in poems of German writers in the mid-eighteenth century, and soon caught the fascination of the creative libertines of the English and Frenchmen. The mix was soon to influence writers of the Gothic horror and Gothic romantic period and gave birth to the modern vampire we imagine the undying to be, garbed as Ann Rice details, resplendent in lace and velvet. I theorize, that, much like myself, the classic scribes of yesterday was to leave a mark on the world long after their own death, allowing them to live on through all eternity - our own sense of immortality. So it is with great pleasure I open the dusty tomes of the past and share the dark embrace of the earliest vampire poems in the collection "La Morte Amore" ! Der Vampire by Heinrich August Eckenfelder (1748) Lenore by Gottfied August Burger (1773) Die Braut von Korinth by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1797) Christabel by Samuel Taylor Coleridge (date unknown) Thalaba the Destroyer by Robert Southey (1800) The Giaour by Lord Byron (1813) La Belle Dame Sans Merci by John Keats (1819) Lamia by John Keats (1820) The Vampyre by James Clerk Maxwell (1845) Le Vampire by Charles Baudelaire (1857) Les Metamorphoses du Vampire by Charles Baudelaire The Vampire by Rudyard Kipling (189 7)The Vampire by Jacques LeClercq

Book Description
Being a vampire isn't about sulking in the dark for all eternity, flipping your bangs in front of your face, or lamenting about the monster caged deep inside of you. To be a vampire is to show that darkness is not always evil, just as the light is not always good. In this collection of drama/comedy poems, you will get a glimpse of the darkness, but also the warmth and coziness within. You will see sorrow and yet happiness. You will see hope. You will see love. And maybe you will even see yourself.

Book Description
"Wake Not the Dead" by Johann Ludwig Tieck is a chilling and atmospheric tale that delves into themes of obsession, ambition, and the boundaries between life and death. Set against the backdrop of a crumbling castle in the German countryside, Tieck's novella follows the ill-fated experiments of the alchemist Victor Fritz, who becomes consumed by the desire to defy the natural order and bring the dead back to life. At its core, "Wake Not the Dead" is a cautionary tale of hubris and moral decay, as Victor's reckless pursuit of forbidden knowledge leads to tragic consequences for himself and those around him. Through Tieck's vivid prose and eerie imagery, readers are drawn into a world of Gothic horror and macabre fascination, where the boundaries between the living and the dead blur and the darkest impulses of the human psyche are laid bare. As Victor delves deeper into the mysteries of life and death, he becomes increasingly isolated from society and consumed by his own hubris, ultimately leading to his downfall. Through his tragic journey, Tieck explores timeless themes of guilt, redemption, and the consequences of playing God, offering readers a haunting meditation on the dangers of unchecked ambition and the fragility of the human soul. More than just a Gothic thriller, "Wake Not the Dead" is a thought-provoking exploration of the darker aspects of human nature and the consequences of tampering with forces beyond our control. As readers immerse themselves in Tieck's atmospheric narrative, they are reminded of the timeless allure of the supernatural and the enduring power of literature to provoke fear, fascination, and reflection.
