A percepção geográfica consiste na capacidade dos indivíduos, através dos órgãos do sentido: audição, visão e tato, absorver todas as informações emitidas pelos elementos que compõem o espaço geográfico, para então construir uma representação singular do meio ao seu redor. Recorda-nos Guattari que não é possível se pensar em uma única ecologia, principalmente por se compreender que refletir questões ambientais é sensibilizar-se, sobretudo das relações estabelecidas entre os grupos sociais do espaço terrestre. A escola contemporânea representa um espaço fértil para cultivarmos práticas e valores ligados a uma proposta pedagógica que permita o diálogo e o respeito à diversidade em todos os seus inúmeros formatos e configurações, sejam eles culturais, religiosos, sociais etc. Com esse pensamento, compreende-se a escola como sendo um espaço social-educativo, capaz de promover práticas diárias e propostas embasadas na sustentabilidade. Este pensamento contribui para a formação de uma escola sustentável, estimulando saberes e fazeres sustentáveis. Pesquisar as realidades da Educação Ambiental no espaço escolar representa uma grande necessidade acadêmica, pois a EA possibilita aos indivíduos uma nova visão da realidade, enxergar o meio ambiente com outro olhar, vendo além das aparências, despertando a busca constante pelo conhecimento, formando opiniões próprias, entendendo e relacionando-se melhor com a realidade na qual está inserido.
